Groupon Today for Nashville/Middle TN Brewers

I pretty much buy all my stuff from Rebel Brewer as well, those guys are super nice. But, I couldn't pass up 50% off for me and a 'friend'. They're prices are similar on some things, especially Hops, Grain and Malt - which is what I'll use it for.

Groupon Today for Nashville/Middle TN Brewers

The Groupon for Nashville (and Middle TN) is a great one for Home Brewers. It's $10 for $20 of supplies from All Seasons Gardening and Brewing Supply in Nashville. It's says amount is limited, so who knows how long it will last. If you've never been in there, it's a great show with a good...

Added 2.5 oz, priming sugar to 2 gallons of Ale

You should be ok - just drop them in the fridge early. I WAY over-primed by first brew (brewed half batch and primed for a full). Just put them all in the fridge after about 5 days. They're bubbly (I call them Bubbly Browns), but uncap and let them set for 10 minutes and they're good.

    Nottingham Yeast

I used Notty for the first time on Saturday. Brewed a 1G test batch and split a pack of Notty between the 1G brew and 1L to put in the fridge after 24/48 hours. 12 hours later they were heavily fermenting away, with the 1G batch bubbling into my airlock. Glad I didn't see this before brewing...

Thanks for a Successful First Brew!

Made a big mistake and primed with too much sugar for the half batch I made. Let it set for a few days and then fridged it. A little too carbed when first opened, but let it sit for a few and it's good. djonas - it's pretty boozy (7.5% ABV) but I wouldn't call it thin. Has a Old Speckled Hen...

First Brew Consumed and Disaster Avoided (for now)

Bottled my first brew 11 days ago and had the first bottle last night -- and it was awesome. But, I'm surprised it came out so well. The boil and ferment without a hitch, but I made a great newbie mistake when bottling. I primed for a 5 gal. batch, but had brewed a 2.5 gal batch. I realized...

    Krausen not falling.

I did my first brew on Jan. 9 and the the Krausen didn't fall until about the day before I bottled - Jan 23. Check your gravity (and listen to Revvy). I had two readings of 1.010 over 3 days. That was spot on the target FG and with no change, I knew it was done.

    KCBrewer's Garage Brewery

I'm just getting started, but I've got a space like this in my garage (with under-counter space) that I thought would be perfect for fermenting. I knew temp regulation would be an issue, but I think this will help me solve it. Subscribed and thanks.

Thanks for a Successful First Brew!

Fermenting at 68 - should it should be perfect.

Thanks for a Successful First Brew!

Added the maple syrup last night and the beer smelled great. Starting gravity was 1.068 and reading last night was 1.029 (adjusted for temp). Seems to be right on track.

    Naming your brews

Can't go wrong with Star Wars, but your Street Name gave me the perfect name for my first brew - 4 days into fermentation right now. Brickle Brown (it's A-Z Brown Ale from Extreme Brewing book).

    Impatiently Waiting

I added some maple syrup to my first brew (Brown Ale) last night and did a hydrometer reading (1.069 -> 1.029). It looked and smelled fantastic. I suddenly can't wait. I'll try to be strong and leave it in the carboy for 2-3 weeks before bottling.

    Calling All Bloggers

redblacktree - I'll take a look at the JS. I've done a lot of jQuery work and I've glanced at the tmpl code before. Shouldn't be anything too crazy. Let me know if you're ever stuck and need a coding hand - might be able to help. Same goes to anyone on the site - if you ever need any WordPress...

Thanks for a Successful First Brew!

Brewed my first batch this past Sunday and I want to thank all the posters on the forum for the great tips, success and mistakes I read about previous to brewing my first batch. Got the beginnings of a kit my Dad had previously used at Christmas after mentioning it was something I was...
