    Carbonation Problem/Help

I am just essentially wanting to confirm this recipe is fine and the sugars and yeast are good in numbers to turn out. I know the higher the alcohol %, the yeast needs to be compatible with it to turn out. But i don't this this percentage is too high for the yeast used. Just want to make sure...

    Carbonation Problem/Help

I actually just got a new pack of washers for the tops. Just put them on my bottles for a brew I'll be bottling tonight. So hopefully that helps out even though these are a different set of bottles, I wanted to put all new washers on all my bottles to help prevent this from happening again...

    Carbonation Problem/Help

It's always been around the same temp since I started brewing 5 years ago... In between 20 and 23 celcius. I just opened a bottle today to give it one last try and this one had some carbonation, so I'll be interested to try the others now. This is the 1st out of 6 bottles that has shown life.

    Carbonation Problem/Help

Okay so I've basically given up on this IPA to carbonate for me. Originally it didn't carbonate. So I tried adding a sugar tablet into each bottle, which means I had to open up every Grolsh bottle and then close it again. Thought I had nothing to loose at that point but still there is no...

    Belgian Triple Recipe Help

Thanks for the input. All the hops at my local homebrew store are all priced the same ($2.79 per oz Canadian). I may adjust the hops to bring the bitterness up, as like you said the Belgian triple should be in the 20-40 IBU range according the BeerSmith. I just haven't found online what the...

    IPA Fermentation Problem/Question

I believe it is a standard size. It's time for a new one anyway. I've been brewing out of this for about 5 years now and before that was making wine for about 5 year out of it.

    IPA Fermentation Problem/Question

It is a 23L Primary pale. Then there is about 4 or 5 inches to the top when it is filled with 23L of brew.

    IPA Fermentation Problem/Question

Perfect! Thank you so much. I may pick up a new bucket but if not, it's good to know I just just put the top on lightly and leave it as is, instead of transferring to a carboy. Take care all and happy brewing!

    IPA Fermentation Problem/Question

Revvy - Thanks so much, you've been a big help. I have definitely enjoyed my home brew over the years, but I am not going to try doing it this way and check out the difference. Couple more questions for you - Since I have an old style bucket (I believe) with just the solid top. To brew using...

    IPA Fermentation Problem/Question

Yes you are correct, my bucket must be an older style bucket and does not have a whole for the airlock. It is just a solid lid, so therefore I rest the lid on top of the bucket and leave it until the yeast starts to collapse and at that point I transfer over to the carboy with the airlock...

    IPA Fermentation Problem/Question

Okay thanks for the help and suggestions. I generally just follow the directions that come with the recipes. The directions always say after adding the yeast to only allow it to say in the primary with the lid rested on the top for a maximum 5 days before transferring over to the carboy. It...

    IPA Fermentation Problem/Question

Hey there, I started an IPA (Painted Black is the name). I have made many brews with no problems, but I have a concern with this one. After day 2 of sitting in the primary fermenter, it took a look and the yeast had already completely broken, which I have never experienced before. I...

Yeah this is my 10 stove top beer, I went with the bag with more hops, because all the beers I've made have more boiling hops compared to finishing.
