Just to be clear, do you mean in addition to the 4 you have agreed to buy... or just in total? If the former, that could really help... but I hope such measures won't be necessary! Lets see what happens by early next week... I’ll do the math again around Tuesday and then let you where we...

Thanks for the correction; Things are progressing, however a few people who are participating seem to be AFK and I am stressing over not knowing when I will hear from them... I know I will have to drop them if they don't surface soon. (are you familiar with "hanami"? I am going to wait to cut...

    The Home Made Pizza Thread

I think I am not using enough dough for my pies! How much are people using for their thick crust pizzas? How much do you suggest using for a 23~25 cm (9~9.8 inch) diameter pizza pie? Thanks!

Well, I have one bottle for the kitchen with a pink top... and it does have a surfacant... I use a plain bleach in the brewery that has a blue lid... but it is an entirely different product. Wheat beer... one of my favorites!

    Home brewing in Japan

Hi Brendan, Nice to see you here again. Sorry to hear about the loss of one of your brews. I will be testing the method in the future, just to quench my curiosity, but I do notice what appears to be an increase in the chlorine content over the course of several days. Making a fresh batch...

    Please help me calculate this...

I came up 1 degree Plato short of my goal after the boil; I guess I didn't boil quite as hard as I could have, anyway, I want to add Dry malt extract to 19 L to raise the fermentables 1 degree plato. I think it might be about 168g but I doubt my math skills at the moment... I am too sleepy to...

IIRC, it is no rinse because the effective concentration is low enough that any problems are simply well below threshold. At higher concentrations it must be rinsed. And that makes as much sense as taking a good shower - then drying off with a dirty towel.

I understand. I have been scheming up tests for effectiviness; typical residual solution volumes (based on size of container) and acceptably safe, maximum concentration levels. Is everyone else using this method with their equipment rinsed, unrinsed, wet or dry? (I am using it while...

    Home brewing in Japan

Humm, not so sure about hot water and bleach... I think hot water with chlorine in it is a prettty good way to drive off the chlorine. Or, perhaps it gives you a quicker, bigger bang for your buck(?!)... if so this might minimize the safety being provided by the water in the first place; not...

    Home brewing in Japan

I concur with everything said, but anecdotal evidence (smell) indicates an increase in punch with time up to a point... and actually a limited "shelf life" (weeks rather than months or years). I think the release of chlorine is not all that "instant".... I will do some testing if doubt is...

Thank you for that post. The information will be used. I was wondering about porters etc. because of something I heard about the mash pH and dark malts... I can't remember what it was... just something about acidity... in our new location, I have noticed scale build-up on water...

Water reports... yea, doesn't look quite complete enough for really good brewery work. (?) What would you (anyone here) do in general, to brew a Porter?
