How do you all wash your beer mugs?

What do you use since I know that largely effects taste and head retention?

    Another fermentation question

So when you pour your beers do you still worry about leaving the trub in the bottle or is there none?

    Another fermentation question

Is there going to be that much sediment in the secondary if you strain the wort before mixing in the primary.

    Another fermentation question

Just a question then, why couldnt one just rack the primary to the bottling bucket, leave it sit 2 weeks then put in the priming sugar and then bottle? I havent gotten that far yet, but if the spigot is high enough to leave the trub behind why do we use a secondary?

    Fermentation question

Sure. I was toying with the idea of pitching another batch of yeast as John Palmer explains. Any opinions or insight about this anyone??? Except Im not sure of the exact cause so i dont know if that would be a good idea or not. Did you prepare a starter cnapierala? I did.

    Fermentation question

Im in the same boat right now. I had vigorous fermentation for 24-48 hours and now nothing. its been about 3 days since i put it in the primary. I havent opened it even once to look at it though. Im just hoping it will turn out ok. Im going to rack it to my secondary at the 1 week point...

    Is straining bad?

good stuff, i did use the dry yeast i forgot to responds to that and it was probably the most useful piece of info.

    Is straining bad?

Actually there is no pressure in the airlock right now because the cap has rested back down is it normal to have zero fermentation at this point (48 hours). Im gonna wait the full week before racking to the secondary.

    Is straining bad?

Another good answer! So can i drink it now if it is done, HAHA.
  13. R

    Is straining bad?

Thats the answer I was hoping for! My airlock was bubbling rapidly the first 24 hours after i poured it into the primary. now its not bubbling at all(or at least very rarely). Is that normal, will it pick back up?

    Is straining bad?

I strained myn wort as I poured it into the primary to get all of the trub out. Was that a bad idea? I read it in how to brew.

    Help, No hot break!!

Mike H, Im not sure what you mean about getting the temp down? I cooled the Wort in an ice bath then poured it through a strainer into the water that was already in the fermenter.

    Help, No hot break!!

Mike H, Thanks, i used the partial method. I first boiled 2 gallons of water and let it cool in the fermenter. The I made the wort in 3 gallons of water. I realized i should not be using the lid a little after around 20 minutes so i boiled for about 15 extra minutes to be safe. The airlock...
