    Speidel Fermenter Mod???

I've put a few batches through my 30l one and have been attaching the probe to the outside of it. The issue that was concerning me was the thickness of the plastic. It's way thicker than something like a better bottle. Lol....lube.

    Speidel Fermenter Mod???

Pfgonzo, I was doing some searching and found your thermowell solution. How did it work out? Was the lid able to stay sealed? I was thinking about the contraction of the rubber when cooled. If it did shrink it seems like that wouldn't seal right.

    New chugger pump

Ok, thanks to BobbyM I finally got a pump for my system. My wife was really excited too. Lol. Anyway, I know it isn't self priming and that the liquid has to be present before I start it. My question is when draining do I just cut off the power while there is still fluid in the line?

    Another glass carboy horror story

Hope you get better. I made the choice of using plastic because my sons help me. I read about all the horror stories and am glad I made the choice. Good luck bud.

    Starter question

So I made some more wort to make the starter 1.07L total. I boiled 10 min. then cooled to 71 degrees. Sanitized my funnel and the top of the flask and poured it in. Everything looks good now. Thanks everyone!

    Starter question

Thanks for the info guys. My projected of is 1.054 so I probably need to add more. When I do, is it going to be the same process as far as boiling then adding to what's already in the flask? Or am I going to have to chill, then decant off and add? I checked MrMalty and it says I need a 1.05...

    Starter question

I looked around and couldn't find an answer to this; when making my first ever starter I didn't boil for 10 min. I did maybe 5-6 min because my kids started being kids. Anyway, I cooled it down and followed the rest of the info from beer geek nation. So my question is, am I ok with not doing a...

    Quick disconnects

Sorry I didn't specify which QD from Home Depot. They are the brass ones that are used in the air compressor section. I've seen them used in some setups on YouTube.

    Quick disconnects

Don't know if this should go in this section, if not please let me know. I want to get quick disconnects for my all grain setup. Can I just use the ones from Home Depot or is this not a good idea? I was thinking about camlocks but I like the idea of being able to swivel the tubing. Thanks

    What's this?

Thanks Marty. Ill try your kegging procedure next batch. I'm new to kegging so I'm willing to try everything to see what works best for me.

    What's this?

Thanks Cyclman. It tasted really good. I have it kegged right now. I'm following this procedure 30 psi for 36 hours then purging and resetting at 10-12 for a week. It's my first time kegging and I have to say I'm not missing bottles.
