    it really depends on if I'm doing an average gravity stout or an imperial stout. imperial stouts don't get anything since I like to bulk age them. average gravity stouts get whirfloc in the boil and usually end up in a keg.

    depends on your gravity and if you make a starter. if using 1056 for a black "IPA", I'd probably make a starter since the gravity will be a bit higher than the smack pack is recommended for. if using US-05, probably 2 packages for the same reason. don't stress the yeast and the yeast won't...
