    Kölsch Bee Cave Brewery Kölsch

This beer sounds delicious! I was under the impression that a Kolsch had to be lagered, but the original recipe doesn't call for any lagering period beyond the 4 day cold crash. What's everyone been doing? Could I just rack to the keg after cold crashing and lager in my keezer?

My new Danby 5.5 cu Keezer build

I actually saw your post and tried to find this cat litter, apparently Walmart up here in Canada doesn't stock it, or it's way more expensive than the US price.

My new Danby 5.5 cu Keezer build

I've had the keezer running for about 2 weeks now. No issues whatsoever. The only thing was I was getting a fair amount of condensation/frost on the interior walls, probably from opening the lid too much to admire and show off my unit. I ordered a 2lbs jug of rechargeable silica beads from...

LOTS of hop matter in keg

Thanks for your replies! I may have been a bit hasty to post my troubles... After having my issues for 4-5 pints my beer has cleared up almost completely. There is VERY little hop matter in my pours now. Seems like Jag75 was right and the beer cold crashed in the keg. Other than a bit of...

LOTS of hop matter in keg

First time dry hopping, first time kegging. Added 2.5oz of pellet hops straight into the fermenter for 7 days. I didn't have a method of preventing suck back of O2 so I skipped cold crashing all together. Also it wasn't the smoothest of transfers since my auto-siphon was creating a lot of...

My new Danby 5.5 cu Keezer build

Just finished building my first keezer from a Danby 5.5cu freezer. I wanted something that could easily hold 2 kegs with room for a 3rd (corny & 1/6bbl sanke), fit a 5lb Co2 tank on the compressor hump, and look decent since I'd be keeping it in my house. I used the keezer dimension thread on...

American Pale Ale Valley View Pale Ale

I may give this a whirl as the first beer I run through my keezer! I've done the conversions in Beersmith and at 4.5 SRM the profile looks much lighter than your photo.

    Beer Line length...

At the risk of side-tracking my original post, how often are you supposed to clean your lines? This keezer build will be my first foray into kegging, so I'm green as can be!

    Beer Line length...

The ID on the beer line with that kit is 3/16", so around 5mm. Hopefully it won't be an issue!

    Beer Line length...

Okay, you've all sold me on the EVA barrier tubing. Anyone know where I can get this stuff in Canada? Here's the kit I'm ordering, it comes with Bevlex 200 as standard... https://www.ontariobeerkegs.com/Dual_Tap_Kegerator_Complete_Kit_p/2kegdualregkit.htm

    Beer Line length...

I know there are a few variables and an equation for this sort of thing, but I'm not looking for a precise answer. I'm about to order all the bits I need to build my keezer in the new year and the package I'm buying has an option for 6ft or 10ft of Bevlex line. Obviously 10ft is the safer bet...

Planning my keezer build.. which temp controller?

So, the home renos are almost done, which means my wife will let me move on to my next project - a keezer! I've put a list together with most of the things I'll need but I'm getting hung up on which temp controller to go with. Here's the short list and why they're up for debate: Inkbird ITC-308...

    2nd batch, still flat..

Ya'll were right.. more time in warmer temps did the trick. Thanks!

    2nd batch, still flat..

So, I've made 2x 5gal extract batches so far (Coopers, no boil) and the taste is there but the carbonation is... lacking. In both cases I used the Northern Brewer priming calculator and I'm batch priming with dextrose. I'm measuring the priming sugar by weight and adding it to 1.5 - 2 cups of...

First Kettle - Welded or Weldless fittings?

Hmm, this is a solid point. I've found it tough to drink 5 gallons of beer in time to scratch my itch and brew another batch! I'm using 330ml bottles right now, so 5 gallons gives me roughly 60 bottles, which is insane. I nearly have two sets of bottles now which will allow me to overlap brews...

First Kettle - Welded or Weldless fittings?

You're in the ball park, but I'm dealing in Canadian Pesos unfortunately. The 10 gal kettle would run me $144 while the Robobrew is $500. Like I said I've just been doing Coopers kits with no boil. The beer has been lackluster, but it's still beer and I've learned alot. Planning to use my...

First Kettle - Welded or Weldless fittings?

The same kettle does come in a 10 gallon option with welded fittings, I'm not opposed to going a bit bigger if it'll give me more options down the line! Those kettles are considered entry level kettles according to the site, and they seem to be given their price point compared to other brand...

First Kettle - Welded or Weldless fittings?

So I've made a couple brew can kits which have turned out decent, but I'm ready for what's next. A friend of mine suggested I pull the trigger on a Robobrew and go right to all grain, but I want to do the partial extract thing first so I get the full experience and learn a thing or two. I'm in...

    Batch Priming Methods..

We're in the exact same boat. I'm also doing a Coopers kit, my LHBS gave me the same 1 1/4 cup advice while the calculator seemed to give me less. My results after 2 weeks in the bottle have lead me to the same conclusions you came to. I ended up buying a cheap kitchen scale for $20 and weighed...

    Batch Priming Methods..

Will give it another week and try to store it in a warmer place. Easier said than done this time of year!
