Where did the hops go? Weird.

When I add hops I use my co2 tank from my keezer and blow co2 into the fermenter before and after I add the dry hops. And before if keg I use a closed transfer system pushing star San out through the keg into another keg. Then I take off my blowoff into a Mylar ballon and put my carboy cap with...

Where did the hops go? Weird.

I love el dorado. So this had 6oz of el dorado total. However these are hops I’ve had since March when the shutdown happened. After I cut the vacuum sealed bag I close and winch with a rubber band and put it back in the freezer. Maybe the hops all of them were the final bits of 1lb bags I bought...

Where did the hops go? Weird.

a neipa I brewed two weeks ago. Kegged yesterday. 2 row, white wheat, Munich, oats and carapils. OG 1.086. Fg due to me under pitching hornidal kviek 1.020 and that’s after multiple additions to try to get the gravity down. Stalled at 1.030 initially. So I hop standee with mix of el dorado...

Help me tweak this neipa please

I use bru’n water spreadsheets so ph is measured at 5.3 and I use lactic acid to drop it down. Calchl/sulfate is about the ratio u have it but I think mines more like 200:90 on that beer. i also think I may have just underpitched and had I used the whole pack of hornidal I may have been fine.

Help me tweak this neipa please

So I brewed this beer almost two weeks ago and fermentation using hornidal kviek stalled out. I only used 2tbsp of slurry from the pack in an effort to push up the fruity esters And it stopped at 1.030 and adding more slurry with a heat pad got it down to 1.020 5 days later Before I cold crashed...

    Clogged keg. Help

Is That a floating dip tube. If so I’ve considered getting one as I just like he concept of pulling the beer from above any gunk that may have gotten into the keg.

    Clogged keg. Help

So I had a bad transfer with this one and it took alot of hop debris, I’ve been dealing with slow pours and clogging posts and dip tube since a couple days after I kegged this. Well now with about 2gal left it won’t even pour. I take the out post off and sure there’s hip debris in the ports so...

    Welp. Now what. Stalled fermentstion

So I brewed a neipa Saturday, og 1.086, and to try to bring out the esters in the hornidal kviek I followed the advice here and pitched 2tbsp into 6gal wort. It fermented vigorously for the typical 2 days with temps in the 90’s then stopped dead on day 3 which is typical I find for kviek. So I...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

So to those that soft crash here’s a question. So i soft crash at 32deg till my temp hits mid 50’s usually just a couple of hours. And since I soft crash in my keezer I’ll pull the fermenter set it out and let the temp rise to mid 60’s where it usually stabilizes then I’ll add my first dh...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I agree. I love sabro for the coconut/pineapple aspect. I’ll use it in the hopstand with other popular hazy hops but it really stand out in the dh thats when I get that crazy pina colada ie pineapple/coconut flavor which I really like. But that’s just me. Nelson is the same. It can be...

Where do you buy your grain

Thanks for the replies. I actually was at the lhbs today for some hops and asked about malt and he said he usually has enough on hand to fill say 50lb base malt orders and 10lb adjunct grains. So I like hat I still get to support the local place.

    Co2 closed transfer disaster. Help.

thanks. Yeah similar to what I do. I think the relief valve popped close when I was taking of disconnects and I was so flustered at why the beer wasn’t moving after I cleaned the dip tube and post I didn’t realize the relief valve was closed. Like the others said it would explain the bulging in...

    Co2 closed transfer disaster. Help.

I puled the post and dip tube first thing as I assumed as I watched the chunks float into the line but after I pulled em I ran sanitizer through both and they were clean.

    Co2 closed transfer disaster. Help.

    Co2 closed transfer disaster. Help.

I pull the little pin and set it to open. But ya know I got so flustered and frustrated it wasn’t till after I calmed down and the transfer was over and I rethunk what happened I wondered if it didn’t slip closed at some point and I was looking for every other reason than that. It would explain...

    Co2 closed transfer disaster. Help.

I use a simple closed co2 transfer with my glass carboys using the cap with the ss racking cane, homemade co2 inlet etc. it’s worked great for a year making mostly neipas, little learning curve n the beginning but now usually takes me 20-30 min to pressures transfer starsan from one keg to the...
