My semi walkin 5000 btu fermentation chamber

I was having a lot of trouble getting my ferm chamber that I built around a bar fridge to cool below 70...so I was inspired by by your build and bought and air conditioner. I have a dual stage controller, but right now I just have it controlling an outlet to which the AC is connected. Lowest...

    Ferm Chamber

Does anybody know how to bypass the thermostat on a window air conditioner? I use one for the cooling in my fermentation chamber. It is connected to a dual stage controller, but the thermostat on the unit itself only goes down to 70 F, and cuts out before it cools the chamber to my desired temp...

    Ferm Chamber

I built a ferm chamber based around a bar fridge. I built an insulated box around it with the door removed. The inside is lined with reflective foam insulation, all joints are sealed then the whole chamber is wrapped in r30 pink bat and cladded in board. I keep the thermostat turned to max and...

Question about setting up an EHERMS.

A 20a GFCI will easily handle a single a 5500w PID/SSR controlled camco element I would run the PID to an SSR, then have the SSR power the outlet in your case

    Eherms hlt how to?

I got this http://hopdawgs.ca/Equipment/Wort-chillers?product_id=339 use it for both recirculation during the mash and chilling the wort. I probably could have made one for half the price, but really wasnt worth my time and effort work great!

    My EHERMS setup

Here is the wiring schematic...not exactly the same as I used but pretty close. http://www.ebrewsupply.com/designs/PID/50a-PID-2-2-2PID-Electric.pdf I had it to a full boil from mash out temp (170) in about 30 min. that included time to fix a loose wire that caused the element to quit on me

    Re-Pitch ?

Thanks for all the advice, I'm a bit confuse about the mash temp comments though. I am running an Electric HERMS system, so my mash temp is very controllable. The recipie called for 158 mash temp as for mouth feel, it is actually very balanced. bitter citrusy finish ( i used citra, amarillo...

    Re-Pitch ?

I mashed at 158. Grain bill was 27 pounds using mostly canadian 2 row (22 lbs), with some munich, chocolate, cara, crystal, and brown malts making up the rest. my pitch was 65, during the early ferm it rose to 70, and I had some trouble with my ferm chamber so it briefly went as high as 74, but...

    Re-Pitch ?

No it was a 10gal all grain recipie .My biggest concern is it was my first all grain, and I only bought a single yeast pack not knowing it was only enough for 5 gal. I pitched at midnight, so i couldnt go out and buy another. Luckily after my boil and a few pump issues, I ended up with a final...

    Re-Pitch ?

I brewed an AG american IPA last weekend. The final brew volume ended up at around 7 gal with an OG of 1.055. I'm an AG noob, and ended up under pitching with a single pack of wyeast 1272 (American Ale II smack pack). Pitch temp was 65, and I had really good fermentation activity within 12...

    First AG fermentation questions

well so far so good. I tasted the sample that I pulled for gravity reading and there is no hint of off flavors. I may be a noob at AG brewing, but I am a seasoned craft beer drinker!! thanks for all the advice

    First AG fermentation questions

This is a (sort of) repost from another forum, but more of an update as well. Hoping for some better answers. Friday night i brewed my very first all-grain brew using my newly constructed 3 vessel electric HERMS system. It is an aggressively hopped APA, intended to be a 10 gal batch, I...
