First time Apple Cider------ 9.825 ABV

Thanks guys, I'll let it sit another week the transfer it to another carboy. You,re right, it does have a dry feel. I'll give you an update when I transfer. No problem Temp81, I haven't seen any action (in the airlock geez) for about a week or so. Is that bad?

    UnCalibrated Thermometer

Thanks for the info woodlandbrew. I'll get a digital thermometer this weekend PLUS another "old fashioned" one. Whats that old saying, "cut twice and measure once"?

    UnCalibrated Thermometer

Speaking of buying new stuff. I'm trying to get the wife to let me buy a new 15 gal home brew system. Do you know of any good systems?

    UnCalibrated Thermometer

ARE YOU CALLING ME A LIAR???? Just kidding. The little nut you use to calibrate the thermometer was kind of loose. From what I think happened is that as I turned the thermometer to read it, I seen the thermometer raise to 150ishF and I stopped turning it and turned the heat off. The temp stayed...

    UnCalibrated Thermometer

Crap Crap Crap!!!!!!! Found out my thermometer was off by about 30 degrees after mashing and adding yeast. Is beer ruined? Should I cut my losses and re-do it, or wait it out and hope for the best? HELLLPPPPPP!!!!!!

    A Newbie and The WAITING

Being a newbie, I find the hardest part of brewin is the waiting. The day after I brew I find myself checking on the beer more often than I probably should. I've brewed 4 batches of beer and found myself either; 1. Transferring from primary to secondary to soon, or 2. Bottling to soon. Should I...

    Does Bottle Color Matter?

Thanks. I plan on keeping them in the fridge, and drinking ASAP. I'm not a fan of letting beer sit in the sun and get warm, so i'll have no problems with that.

    Does Bottle Color Matter?

Does bottle color (amber, green or clear) matter, depending on the type of beer your bottling? I'll be bottling an American Lager in a few weeks and wondering about this. It will be my first bottling of a light beer. Thanks
