    Belgian brew suggestion

Hey guys. I've got a buddy who is from Belgium and he's getting married at the very end of June. I've been thinking about surprising him with a homebrewed Belgian beer for his bachelor party. I don't have time to experiment unfortunately so I was hoping you all could point me to a fantastic AG...

    Fruit Beer Lemon-Lime Hefe Weizen

I've been looking at this recipe lately because I'm trying to put together about 4-5 brews for my outdoor wedding this summer. I've got a couple questions. I wanted to do a hefe that the lighter beer drinkers and the ladies will really enjoy. How pronounced is the lemon flavor? Does it...

    La Fin du Monde

Ya I gotta say pistoles is my favorite as well. I do enjoy la fin though! Does anyone else find that although all of their beers are a different style they still all taste very similiar? I've attributed it to the yeast. I don't know what they use but I wouldnt be surprised if someone told me it...

    Logan, Utah: Brew-stuff for sale...

Hey, fellow UT Brewer here. I'm down in Ogden. Just saw your post and it looks like you have quite the setup if those are spares :). Although I have everything I need I've been trying to pick up some more kegs locally. I'd absolutely buy both cornies if they are ball locks and are in good...

    Extra Hard Lemonade

Well a week later and its still steadily bubbling away. Its beginning to slow a little bit so I'm probably gonna take a hydro reading tonight and see where I'm at. Smells fantastic!

    Extra Hard Lemonade

Well I went ahead and made it tonight. I ended up using 6 cans of lemonaid and 4 cans of raspberry lemonaid. I dissolved the 10# of sugar in a big pot then let it cool and poured the concentrate and the rest of the water in so I ended up with 6 gallons. I poured it all on my apfelwein yeast...

    Extra Hard Lemonade

Ok great thanks :). I plan on reading this whole thread before I start so hopefully I can make it right the first time. What was your recipe for the cran lemonaid? Sorry if you already posted it in here. I'm a big cranberry fan so maybe ill try that out first.

    Extra Hard Lemonade

Hmmm ok. Now my plan was to pitch onto an apfelwien yeast cake but i have a question. Should I add a little bit of the solution at a time to get the yeast active and ready for the acidic environment or should I just go ahead and pitch the whole thing onto the cake? Also which recipe would you...

    Maximizing Efficiency when Batch Sparging

Well if you're batch sparging you just wasted time. That's the really.nice thing about batch sparging, its really fast. You draining slowly definitely didn't cause you're og problem. You'd have to explain your process and whether or not you crushed your own grains etc.

    Extra Hard Lemonade

About to do a batch of this. Now do you always have to backsweeten? I was a bit confused on whether not not you were actually backsweetening.

Wort chiller changed color after first use

Ya totally normal :). It was all shiny and almost gold instead of dull, dark copper? I always throw my chiller in the boil for the last 10 min. To clean it I just use some hot water rinse off all the sugars and hop/break material. I shake it upside down and let hang it to dry.

    Maximizing Efficiency when Batch Sparging

Kuhn, I can't stand when people overcomplicate things. After reading a ton on batch sparging and after tweaking my method a little at a time using a lot of info posted from Denny(thanks!) I've come to a very simple, easy and efficient technique that I get a pretty constant 80-82% effeciency...

Yeah, I know.... Another one... STC 1000 Question

If we're talking about using a fridge as a ferm chamber then I definitely prefer to tape my probe to the middle of my ferm bucket with insulation over it. I find this to be the best way to accurately control fermentation and have my fridge run as little as possible. It takes a lot of time and...

TV Shows you've given up on.

Sons of anarchy was a straight winner, I was hooked since the first episode. Seriously if you haven't seen it watch the first few episodes. The writing and acting is pretty great. Other shows that I really got into was Dexter, breaking bad, and southland is actually pretty good too. The first...
