    Corny Keg Showdown

I have this keg and it's a rebranded AMCYL. It's a good keg, but I wouldn't pay what Micro Matic charges.

Fat Tire - New Belgium ditches classic recipe

Sad news, Anchor Brewery is closing. https://www.kron4.com/news/bay-area/anchor-brewing-company-to-cease-operations-in-san-francisco/

Can I Replace These Beer Lines?

Yes, just remove the nut. It's a tight space so you may want to get a wrench made for the job. https://www.amazon.com/Deluxe-Faucet-Wrench-by-Kegconnection/dp/B00OHMHL7M

Oxygenation paranoia with counter-pressure bottle filler

Swirl the bottle and cap on foam. 👍

how many times can i repitch yeast

How long does it take to transfer using that? I imagine it slows down quite a bit after a layer of boil hops blocks the screen. I use one of these and it does let a lot pass through.

    Advice for Sierra Nevada Clone

Thanks for sharing. Apparently he's been tweaking this recipe for years. "Along with NNPA’s deliciousness, its beauty lies in its simplicity. My current iteration of NNPA is a tad more malt and hop forward than SNPA, and just a skosh bigger. The recipe has been tweaked many times over the...

    Advice for Sierra Nevada Clone

I'm also planning a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale Clone and read the recipe on their website. I'm going to use the hop schedule from the AHA Nearly Nirvana recipe instead. This was their 2023 Big Brew Day recipe and it looks like a good one...

How do other actual brewers feel about 'Beer Flights'?

When I'm at a brewery with my wife I will typically order a flight and sample. If something stands out, I get a full pour to get the full enjoyment of that particular beer. When I'm at a brewery with my HBC, I just commit to something and get a full pour. If it's good, I buy a 4 pack to take...

    Hi Everyone

Hi and Welcome! I'm curious where you're brewing overseas? What I've learned reading from our international members is that equipment and ingredients vary greatly by location.

    Excited

Cream ales are easy to brew and a crowd pleaser. I added this kit to my order so I could get free shipping and it turned out amazing using WLP080 yeast. https://shop.greatfermentations.com/product/charisma-cream-ale-all-grain-beer-kit/all-grain-beer-kits Kolsch is also good. I just kegged...

CO2 Regulator Adjustment Screw Too Tight

First off, are you sure you have the co2 in the tank still? The tare weight on the tank does not include the regulator weight. With the regulator off, crack open the co2 tank a bit and see if it hisses as co2 escapes. Also, what is the make/model of the regulator. I'm sure there are others...

    Force carbonation

Use a chart such as this one to calculate co2 volumes. It's quite simple. I keep a small bottle of spring water in my kegerator to measure the beer temperature. https://www.kegerators.com/carbonation-table/

    Force carbonation

Yep, sounds right to me. Remember to turn the dial all the way down on the regulator and then increase to your serving pressure. Going from high pressure to low doesn't work.

    Hitting my OG

I use Beersmith and have my efficiency at 72%. I think it's pretty accurate for my setup. You may want to chase 75% or just drop to 70% and see if you start getting closer numbers. I think I started at 70 and was overshooting my numbers, so I started increasing until I got consistent results...

    Hitting my OG

Personally I wouldn't add dme after the mash. It won't hurt anything but it's not that important. On your next batch, you should adjust to compensate for the low gravity. You could grind your grain tighter, add more total grain, or add a dunk sparge. My advice is to tighten your mill gap a...

5 gallon water jug as fermenter

Not for 5 gallon batches. You need head space for the krausen during active fermentation. Maybe if you scale back and brew 3.5 - 4 gallon batches.

Fermentation Chamber - Temp Control Questions

Set your kegerator to it's coldest setting and then connect it to your Inkbird. Also, put the temperature probe on your fermenter and insulate it with bubble wrap. This will allow the Inkbird to measure the beer temperature which is more stable than the air temperature. It also causes longer...

    R.I.P. @Bracconiere

Sometimes he's brilliant and sometimes he swings and misses, but he always tries to make an idea work. Love that creative think outside the box and screw the rules attitude that makes him so unique. Either way he usually makes me laugh. Hope he comes back to HBT

Keeping my bottled ale warm in cold climate

This one! Does a great job with gentile heating, so no hot spots or extreme temp swings. Use bungee cords to secure it to your fermenter.
