    Immersion Chiller for electric brewing

You could put the IC in an ice bath and run your water through it first then to the CF. Or, You could gently bend the bottom loop of the IC so it straddles the element.

    PID not turning on SSR

Sound like the electrician wired the Alarm or Relay output to the SSR instead of the SSR output. I don't have an Auber, but I bet there is a document that came with it explaining all of the settings. My MyPin did, you only need to be able to understand Chinese to English by a Korean educated...

    Simple HLT control

Nope. Just discussing. I just built the darn thing because I wanted it. A few buzzes don't mean much, Ive got them from changing light bulbs. I did not say it took me 20 years to build a RIMS, I started "inventing" mine 20 years ago. Mine has been pretty stable for the last 15 years. I...

i just don't get Irish Moss

When I use it; I do 10-15 minutes of boil cool for a few minutes then run the wort through a counter flow cooler. I usually leave about a pint behind when using whole hops. I have not noticed a big difference in final clarity when using Irish Moss or Whirlflock. But I usually use the whole...

    Element run dry

I have accidentally run a low heat density element dry in my RIMS heater for a few minutes. It lived! to my utter amazement and still working after 10 or more years. The regular ones WILL fry quickly! Been there.

    Hello!

Name is Don, been homebrewing for about 20 years. Donbrew has been my goto nickname and email since about 1997. I thought that I had basically invented electric brewing and RIMS back in the 90's; until I accidentally found this site last week. Back then I had to design and build my own...
