Formulating my first All Grain w/ Citra and Maris Otter SMASH

Yeah, that's what "sensible me" is saying. It's that other guy that creates all the problems. :ban:

Formulating my first All Grain w/ Citra and Maris Otter SMASH

Was going to pitch s05 for this one, but am considering Voss Kveik for the first time. Any reason not to give it a try? Should I pitch half a pack or a whole pack for a 3 gallon batch. I've read it benefits from underpitching. Also, any yeast nutrient required for 5.66 abv? This is batch will...

Help with water profile for SMaSH Pale Ale

I decided to go more towards a balanced adj without hco3. Close enough? https://www.brewersfriend.com/homebrew/recipe/edit/1289274

Should I base addition amts on final volume, or total beginning brew water level for biab?

Help with water profile for SMaSH Pale Ale

Think I'll just try these additions, but ignore the hco3. Thanks for the input again!

Help with water profile for SMaSH Pale Ale

Oh, ok. The balanced profile called for more hco3, so I guess that threw me off. Thanks!

Help with water profile for SMaSH Pale Ale

I've toyed with the Balanced Profile, and found that an adjustment of 3g of Gypsum, 2g of Calcium Chloride and .08g of Baking soda get me pretty close. However, it raised my predicted Mash PH to 5.67.

Help with water profile for SMaSH Pale Ale

I was going by LD Carlson Calcium Chloride, which seems to have been confirmed to be anhydrous in this post: A Brewing Water Chemistry Primer However, I'll be ordering from Atlantic Brew Supply, and I'm not sure about their product. The Brewing Water Chemistry Primer post also states that a...

Help with water profile for SMaSH Pale Ale

I'm working up a 3 gallon BIAB SMaSH Marris Otter/Citra recipe and will be using distilled or bottled RO Water and am considering Calcium Chloride (1.5 g) and Gypsum (4 g) additions. I'm using Brewer's Friends "Light Colored hoppy" water profile. These additions give me a predicted mash pH of...

    Keg to Keg jumper.

What ID tubing is recommended for a jumper? 3/16 or 1/4 for faster transfer?

Formulating my first All Grain w/ Citra and Maris Otter SMASH

Thanks for the input guys! I made a few adjustments. I have a question about the water profile, but I guess I should post that in the Brew Science forum.

Formulating my first All Grain w/ Citra and Maris Otter SMASH

Jumping into all grain with a 3 gallon batch. Wanted to keep it simple, so I worked up a MO Citra Smash. Does this recipe look like a good start? https://www.brewersfriend.com/homebrew/recipe/view/1289274/citra-mo-smash

Can you ferment in Keg without Spunding Valve?

I've been doing 5 gallon extract batches and fermenting in a Speidel. I'm looking to cut back my batches to 2.5 gallons (for more variety, and the ability to do all grain on my stove top) and was looking to buy a smaller fermenter. I have an extra 5 gallon corny, and figured I could just use it...

Did Northern Brewer Purchase Austin Homebrew AND/OR Adventures in Brewing?

Placed an order with AIH this past Saturday. 5 days later and still not shipped. Sounds about right I reckon. To be fair, I complained about the fact that my order was excluded from the 20% discount sale, and they refunded the 20% almost immediately.
