    Dry yeast question

To the OP, if there's a dry yeast available suitable for your beer, use it. Saves money and is more convenient. If your uncomfortable, sure use S-05 liquid equivalent. Its your money and time. But I would never even consider liquid if a similar dry is available.

HB1186 - Colorado Craft beer in Convenience Stores - boooo

I understand why your reasons for opposing this bill. However I would support this bill out of principle. It promotes capitalism and deregulation. I see no reason why the colorado government should be able to decide where certain beer is sold. I'm not going to change my economic views because I...

    Dry yeast question

It seems you think dry yeast is inferior to liquid yeast. Which is not the case. I only use dry yeast (usually S-05). At least give it a shot all you have to do is pour into the wort. Or rehydrate if you want. Either way it will give you a great beer, its much cheaper, and easier/more convenient...

    Growlers

This is exactly what I'm looking for. I wonder if its different laws in different states. Or that place is just cool with it, not worried about the law. I can buy a sealed bottle of wine in the wine room, open it and drink it at my table with dinner, then re-cork and take it home. Why wouldn't...

    Growlers

Why do you say buy the bottles? And then say buy the growler. $7 sounds like a good deal sure, but its not a good deal if the bottles are less per unit.

    Growlers

Not Detroit, Mid-Michigan. Mt. Pleasant Brewing Company. I'm not questioning their prices ($7 sounds like a good deal. I hear people on here paying $20+). I'm just wondering if you can fill a growler, drink half, take the rest home. This would make so much sense. Plus the taproom has several...

    Growlers

If its draft only I understand. Obviously. But what do you mean i pay to drink it at a place and time of my choosing? I can't drink it at the bar if I choose. And once I open it i gotta drink it relatively quick or it will go flat. Bottles at least provide the same drink at my leisure benefit...

    Growlers

They fill kegs? Cornies or full 1/2 barrels? Thats awesome. But yah I understand thats what people will pay but it just doesnt make sense to me to buy a growler. Pints are priced higher because people pay to drink in the bar. Atmosphere, TV's, etc. If I'm drinking at home It makes more sense to...

    Growlers

It costs them a person to have a person fill the bottles and a bottling machine. Theres no possible way to rationalize a growler costing as much as a 6 pack. And I have to pay for the growler originally.

    Growlers

I just dont understand why I would pay the same price per ounce as a six pack. The brewery doesn't have any packaging cost as I'm providing the container. A 6 pack is obviously more convenient. What am I paying for if I'm not paying to drink there.

    Growlers

Ok is that pretty much standard everywhere. I don't really see the point of paying $7 for 64 oz when I can pay $8 for 72 oz (6 pack) of the same beer in more convenient packaging. Dont have to worry about it going flat and I can reuse the bottles.

Sound off: Commercial beer you're digging

just had the stone IPA for the first time too. Damn good.

    Growlers

Sorry if this is a dumb question. Is it cool to fill your growler and drink it there at the bar. I never thought to get a growler because I figured a 6 pack is about the same price in a more convenient size. But my local Micro sells pints for $3.50 and growler fills for $7. If i can drink it...

Sound off: Commercial beer you're digging

Two-hearted. Doesnt matter how many times I have it still impresses me.

So, went to pick up a growler of Rogue yesterday

Hops from hopsdirect. 3 lbs cost me $35. You can't afford not to do that. If your paying $3/oz thats paid off in only 12 oz. And they sent me 56 oz. $35/56 = $.60/oz. 1 pound equals $9.60. My grain bill for a 7.2% IPA was like 17 bucks from BMW. So say $20 for PTE. Thats $30 plus yeast for the...

So, went to pick up a growler of Rogue yesterday

How do you spend $66 per batch. extract I assume but still. I just ordered ingredients for 2 separate IPA's w/ 6 oz hops and they cost less than $25 each.

    Storing wort

Thanks thats exactly what I was looking for. I'm glad someone else uses the same process.

    Storing wort

Just put in a big order, didn't think about it. Shipping would inflate the price too much.
