    so you think i need to get SS? i have a ton of the AL left. is it going to cause off flavors. i have used it in several other beers. not sure if it caused any off flavors or not.

    i took my OG post boil pre-pitch and i was in my target range. i took an OG of the first runnings and i was dead on. then i took a reading of the first and second runnings and i was waaaay under. i allowed wort to boil for 90 mins and the reading obtained was 1.085. so i was a little lower...

    this beer would make the second. i saved it 'cause i lie to have it on hand and good thing i did, my LHBS was out of 56... i am very frugal in that way i guess. i compost, reuse water bottles and plastic cups, etc..... /me is a neo hippie!! lol :mug:

    dood, i have a sparge arm you can try out if you want to use one. i've done both. i find this thread a nice debate. i hate fly sparging as far as a step, but as a process i think it is cool. that said, i am brewing two beers this week. i'm gonna batch sparge one and fly sparge one. good...

    ed, this is beautiful. i use mine as compsot, but if the doggies have been good i'll whip up some spent grain doggie treats...they love 'em. the only problem is the dogs love them so much they eat them a 'second time' if you catch my drift!?!?!? :mug:
