Trying to build a kegging system on a very tight budget.

you could try using a paintball tank, but the advantage of using a bigger tank is that it is cheaper per pound to fill which will save you money in the long run. IMHO I would save up for a dual regulator system and two kegs.

Trying to build a kegging system on a very tight budget.

$75 sounds expensive even for craigslist. Generally speaking if hes putting it up on craigslist he needs the cash or wants to get rid of it. Try emailing him (not indicating that you want it badly) and offer him $50. Can you post a link for your source for the kegs. It sounds like a really...

    DIY Inline Oxygenation

Ive been at a brewery that pumped in oxygen through a tee without any stone at all in there situation the oxygen has to travel 30+ feet to the conical so diffusion happened naturally without a stone. Perhaps if your line is long enough you could just install a tee with a check valve and barb...

Off taste only in some bottles, why?

As for what to do with the bottles the general rule of thumb with beer is that time cures. Let those bottles sit and age and it is possible that the off flavors might disappear. The cause of the off flavors is hard to pinpoint. It is possible that you had poor sanitation in some of the bottles...

Fully Temperature Controlled Fermentation Chamber for about $200

A much easier way of doing this is to convert the dorm fridge into a chest fridge (http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Convert-a-mini-fridge-to-a-chest-refrigerat/) and build a collar similar to that of a keezer on it. A fan should be added to provide circulation as now the cooling element...

    quick question on fermentation chamber

Instead of purchasing a heating element just plug in an incandescent light bulb as they generate a lot of heat.

    Dry hopping with grain bags

You may find it easier to dry hop using whole leaf hops in the form of plugs or the actual cones. The reason is that pellet hops are ground up and extruded hops which disintegrate leaving lots of trub (crap on the bottom and sides). Using whole leaf hops can prevent much of that trup.

I'm thinking I may quit using brew software

You ever meet a geek who hasnt memorized pie to 50 digits. Or knows all the square roots and cube roots to a hundred. A tool should only be used once you have shown that you could survive without it. It is important to know what the brew software does when you plug in your numbers.

I'm thinking I may quit using brew software

I only began to use software after I did numerous batches by "hand". The importance of doing the math by hand (besides improving your math skills) is that you that you get a better understand of how specific changes affect your brew. Once you understand the formulas you would be surprised how...

Bottling bucket - to stir or not to stir?

I sure hope that when you say "I added corn sugar" you mean you boiled it in a cup of water and then cooled it and racked the beer on top of it. This is the best way to ensure even dispersion of sugar. The reason being (chem 101) is that a solid(corn sugar) has a higher solubility at higher...

    Travel with full carboy

Line your box with a towel and make sure it has no sharp point. The reason being if the carboy jostles and strikes a sharp point or corner all of that energy gets focused on that tiny area which could shatter glass. Think of it like a glass safety hammer (see link)...

My new brew system, a brutus 10 with some nice modifications

Although I cannot directly verify a case of an exploding rig, there have been cases of exploding keggles due to enclosed air pockets in the frame (see link below) https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f35/exploding-kegs-29044/

My new brew system, a brutus 10 with some nice modifications

Make sure to drill a small hole in the frame in contact with the burners. Without anywhere to vent the air inside the frame could expand to extreme pressures resulting in a catastrophic ending.
