That's Right, I'm in the Club Now - Best Start Showing Me Some Respect

Im kind of torn between becoming a Certified Cicerone or BJCP judge. I work in the beverage industry so Cicerone is more in line with that but BJCP is cheaper.

    Hillcrest Pale Ale

I entered this beer in a local club competition. It scored a 32. Not bad but not good either. Judges said wasn't hoppy enough for an america pale ale and would of done better as english pale ale. Using pellets instead of while hops might have helped as well. I ordered my all grain setup and...

    Looking for a house yeast

Neva Parker was on the brewing network a few weeks ago and tasty asked her what brewery WLP090 came from and she said it was from a SD brewery but wouldn't name which and went pretty quiet.

    Ten Gallon Brews

It sucks when everything comes together and you produce a GREAT beer but only have 5 gallons. I brew 5 gal now but in a year hopefully I will have the ability to do 10 gal batches.

    Hop Growers in Southern California

Anyone here have success home growing hops in Southern California, ideally North San Diego County? I started this year with three varieties. Cascade, Centennial, and Fuggles. The cascade got about 3 feet tall with no hops, Centennial got about 1 foot then a damn cat dug it up, and the Fuggle got...

    Hillcrest Pale Ale

Here is the finished product! Excellent pale ale! It has a piney aroma, clean bitterness with notes of grapefruit. I just entered it into a local competition.

    favorite sour comercial beers?

The best sours are usually limited releases from a local brewery. I'm blessed to be in SD county and The Lost Abbey has EXCELLENT sours like Red Poppy and Cuvee de Tomme.

    Hillcrest Pale Ale

I bottled this yesterday. The FG was 1.011 coming in at 6.1 ABV. It had a great fruity aroma. It wasn't as bitter as I expected. If I use whole hops again I will probably do 25% more. We'll see in a couple weeks once it's carbed.

    Captain Lawrence Freshchester Pale Ale

I've read that corn sugar is more of a pure dextrose (sugar) and will prime quicker with no added flavor. I would dry hop with cascade or a combo of all the hops you used is good too.
