American Wheat Beer American Wheat Beer - 2nd place Best of show - 2011 HBT BJCP competition

I have brewed this beer several times and have enjoyed each batch. Very tasty. Has anyone played with the yeast pitch rates related to this beer? I am particularly interested in anyone who has underpitched the beer yeast to get more flavor from the yeast. I plan on brewing this again and...

    Help with furnace valves!!!

There are numerous sources for gas valves. $80 - $90 sounds about right for the complete setup. You can run a query on google after you find the valve you want and come up with the lowest price. A few sources are grainger.com, pexsupply.com, ebay.com amazon.com and google shopping. I've had...

    Beer Turned Watery in Keg

My process was not my normal process for me. I had brewed an american wheat beer and was trying a new process of ramping down the temperature from 62 degrees - 33 degrees over 7 days. I waited until the beer temperature reached 40 degrees before applying CO2. I pulled a sample of the beer after...

    Plumbing Propane - Commercial Option

Call your local propane distributor and ask them for a quote. You will most likely find out the cost of installation isn't as much as you would think. It will ease your mind that the installation is done correctly. Some of the guys who work on that stuff get excited to see a custom job like...

    Beer Turned Watery in Keg

MilwaukeeBrewGuy, What was the end result with this beer? I pulled up this thread after having the same issues. I transferred to my keg and noticed the beer tasted somewhat watery in the keg. It had plenty of flavor prior to transferring. Interestingly enough, I also have a cold at the...

    need help on burner plumbing!!

There is a good change your gas valve needs to be converted from NG to LP. The parts to do this should have been included with your gas valve. Also, make sure your pilot has been converted from NG to LP.

    Need help wiring digital thermostat...

Do NOT wire it this way. 1 and 2 do not get a hot and neutral. That is the switching leg of the controller. Think of 1 and 2 being wired like a light switch on the wall. If more explanation is needed, perhaps a friend can help you wire this.

    Brewtroller help

Have you looked at the BCS460? Many of the BCS460 users enjoy the ease of use web interface. I'd be interested if the brewtroller ever develops some sort of GUI.

American Wheat Beer American Wheat Beer - 2nd place Best of show - 2011 HBT BJCP competition

Kolsch yeast has it's own flavor profile that will shine through when the beer is lightly hopped like this one is. Kölsch imparts some noticeable ale-type fruitiness on the palate.

    Controlling fermentation temp in winter

I use the fermwrap heater on my carboy and it works great! Best and most accurate method I have ever used. I fermented an ale at 68 degrees in my 40 degree garage. I do leave the carboy inside a freezer with the door closed. It's the same freezer I use during the summer time for fermentation...

    Using a portable refractometer

I've been a brewer for about ten years now and today is the first time I have used a refractometer. It is the National Industrial Supplies BREWfractometer. I read that I can use this refractometer throughout the brewing process but have some questions about the use. I was curious what my...

Best method for cutting stainless steel?

You can pick up a metal pipe cutter from home depot if you are concerned but a hack saw will do just fine. No worries.

    Another BrewSteel: BadAss Brewstands

I am impressed with the build. Thank you for sharing.. Onehoppyguy, You really should get that power source for the BCS460 inside the box. There are many power options available for that controller. If in doubt, jump over to the BCS forums. It would clean it up a bit. Perhaps there is a...
