High Gravity Imperial Stout and low attenuation

I w I would be concerned about putting a champagne yeast into a bottle with 1.04+ beer....., especially if you think you are going to add priming sugar too. It is one thing to have a beer finish out with a yeast and add priming sugar to the same beer with the same yeast. However, throwing an...

High Gravity Imperial Stout and low attenuation

Depends on what you are shooting for..... some of the most popular really big RIS beers - such as Toppling Goliath or Three Floyds Dark Lord end with FG in that range for sure. In particular, when those big breweries barrel age a RIS, the overly high FG is a plus when it goes into a barrel as...

    +1 to that. Looks great.

    Pictures of NEIPA's

Yeah.... I am not a proponent of the overly yeasty/trub/milky/hop particle floaties....... I am good with cloudy and hazy, but - in my opinion, chunks and sediment are a flaw which detracts from both flavor and appearance. I like my NEIPA type beers to be bright, refreshing, 5-6% ABV, low/no...

    Pictures of NEIPA's

Found an old one I did that is a good comparison of the exact same beer looking quite different in different light..... similar to @TheHopfather above. This is the exact same beer, a minute or two apart. Fluorescent light is yellow/gold. The one that is more orange is outdoors, not much...

    Pictures of NEIPA's

Obviously can't comment on the quality in regard to flavor, etc..... but, I find it visually off-putting to say the least. I am sure there are others who probably find it intriguing or simply a non issue as long as the taste is fine. But, my personal opinion - I like my beers to look like they...

Like a hoppy american amber or a rich/malty amber ale type beer?

    Pictures of NEIPA's

. This was one of the crazier pictures of a NEIPA that I happened to take..... was just randomly walking through my living room one evening with a beer and the setting sun coming through the window hit my beer and it just glowed. So, I held it back in that same spot and took a photo. Did not...

    Pictures of NEIPA's

Setting sunlight or fluorescent ceiling lights that hit it at a particular angle really seem to make the color "glow" under the right conditions..... The lighting can make a huge difference though. Unfortunately, I don't have any NEIPA on tap at home right now to do a comparison. I will see...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

When I have done it..... cold crash can for several days at least. Take out without disturbing. Rinse of top with star san thoroughly. Have starter wort ready.... personally, I have gone .5L of 1.025 or so for the first starter. Gently pour beer in glass and leave 1-2 ounces in can. Swirl...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Well.... locally, I know because they release a batch of a certain beer and some of it is on tap and some of it is in cans .....from the same batch of beer. So, both are the same batch, the same age, and I will drink them the same week. The beer on tap is always as good or better than the beer...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I will say this...... I don't know of any of the "world class" versions of NEIPA's that are not consistently better on tap than they are in the can. I can say with much experience that Toppling Goliath and Pulpit Rock 's beers (in my area) are essentially always better on tap than they are in...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I have tried on occasion (here and there) the DDH again...... personally, still not finding it to really be worth it. I have continued to stick with 6 ounces in the whirlpool once temps drop significantly and 6 ounces of Dry hop on day 2. I like the results and I personally like getting all...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

In my experience, nothing beats Citra/Galaxy/Mosaic. However, I do really like using Centennial/Simcoe/Amarillo -that is a nice combo of some of the older hops. Centennial/Cascade/Amarillo too. Some of the blends are quite good too - Falconers Flight especially.

American Wheat Beer Hoppy Session Wheat Beer

I use some flaked wheat.... never subbed out all the wheat for it though. Not a fan of using flour. Maybe if you know another home brewer or two, or have a local club you could split a sack of wheat between a couple people. I agree on expense..... Any grain that is not in bulk is outrageously...

    iBrewMaster 2 problems

Hopefully someone can give you good news on this.... but, Ibrewmaster has not been noted for their service or reliability...... Good reminder to me to transfer more of my info - I have mine on an old, old iPad. I generally e-mail all the important recipes I have to my self so that I always...
