15g Stainless Kettle / Mash Tun

I brew BIAB. Looking to eventually replace my 10g kettle with a 15g kettle to simplify my process when brewing with large grain bills. Would prefer something with a taller profile and heavy duty or tri-clad bottom but beggars can't be choosers. PM with what you have and what you would want...

Illinois Kegerator IL - True TDD-1 Commercial Kegerator

Bump for a beautiful kegerator. This is more or less my dream setup.

    WTB Tall Boy 10g Lid

This seems like a long shot, but I purchased a used 10g tall boy kettle not realizing it didn't include a lid (yeah I'm an idiot). Called NB, and they are seeing if they have anything laying around. Hoping somebody on here might have one they don't really use. Long shot, I know.

Best Way to Ship a Brew Kettle?

For anyone who comes across this in the future, here is what I was able to find: Trying to ship a 15g kettle. 1. USPS and Greyhound were similar around $40. 2. FedEx was $57. We have a company account which would have discounted any service but apparently not ground.

Best Way to Ship a Brew Kettle?

Does anyone on here have tricks for shipping brew kettles at reasonable rates? The usual suspects' (FedEx, UPS, USPS) prices are deal breakers. Looking into Greyhound shipment, but there website has been down for like a week. Thanks in advance.

North Carolina 10g kettle and other supplies

Interested in the Spike kettle if you'd consider separating and shipping.

Michigan 12.5 gallon Concord SS Kettle

My brewing partner moved out of a town last year. Haven't used my second kettle since. It probably has 5 batches on it. It has two high heat marks on the bottom about 2"x3" (see photos) but they don't impact the function in anyway. Otherwise excellent condition. Includes lid. Dimensions: 15"...

    Concord tri-ply 10g pot

Are you referring to the ~92 page thread? Were they referring to Concord kettles in general or the tri-ply models? I have a standard Concord kettle and it does work on induction. I am looking at upgrading to tri-ply to move away from scorching issues. Wasn't sure if those worked as well.

    Concord tri-ply 10g pot

Can anyone confirm this kettle is induction capable? I called Concord and they say not, but I know of several other manufacturers claiming the same when their kettles are actually capable.

Scorching with Avantco IC3500 - Theories?

Was seriously considering this option. Went to calculate shipping, $55, ouch!

Scorching with Avantco IC3500 - Theories?

Have you ever timed your tap to mash temp and mash out to boil temp? Reading around it looks guys using the BC kettles get around 2-2.5* / min with around 6.5 gallons and the 3500w burner. Some suggest tri bottom kettles would be slower, but I haven't seen any numbers to confirm that.

Scorching with Avantco IC3500 - Theories?

That is hard to pass up at 50% off. So far I've done all my brewing with a simple kettle (no valves). I recognize having a valve opens up some additional possibilities and I could probably be sold on the benefits, but I can't help but feel like it goes against my minimalist brewing approach.

Scorching with Avantco IC3500 - Theories?

It's the Avantco IC3500 burner with a 10 gallon kettle. From what I've read, quite a few people on here use it successfully despite the ~6" heating coil.

Scorching with Avantco IC3500 - Theories?

Sorry for two posts. Working from my phone. I guess triply may not be necessary, but I am concerned to continue using my Concord E Series kettle. The bottom is warped and I suspect this will result it an even more concentrated heat generation. For kettles I was considering either Concord...

Scorching with Avantco IC3500 - Theories?

Thanks for the continuing input. I have not been heating during mash. I actually take it off the burner and add the bags and grain. I leave it off for the full hour removing the grain bag before putting it back on the burner.

Scorching with Avantco IC3500 - Theories?

Thanks for the input. I tried to stir more during my last brew and I did see less scorching, but still some present. I was trying to move to BIAB with as little cost as possible, but I am over scrubbing scorched pots. I think my plan is three fold: 1. Single grind grain. 2. Move to a higher...

Scorching with Avantco IC3500 - Theories?

That's an interesting idea. I really don't know to be honest. My LHBS has an electric grinder. I did double grind it but I have no idea what they are setting the gap at. I'll single grind in the future. Would the grind become less of an issue with a nicer bag? Is there anyway to remove the...

Scorching with Avantco IC3500 - Theories?

A quick background, I've been brewing for about two years. I've done about 15 extract batches in that time on my outdoor propane burner. For the most part all batches were successful. In January I began induction brewing with the Avantco IC3500 and my Concord E-Series kettle. My first two...
