    BM Summer Honey Wheat

Anyone have an extract recipe for BM Summer Honey Wheat? Just went through a six pack of this while waiting for my Nut Brown Ale to condition and it was delicious.

    Pots and burners

I'm sure people out there use turkey fryer kits for boiling wort. Any recommendations? Aluminum, SS, brand?

    Thinking of getting Better bottles

Im thinking of getting better bottles to ferment in instead of buckets. I have read that they are not graduated. What is the best way to graduate them? Pour a measured gallon in, mark it, and so on? Might be answering my own question, but never hurts to ask.

    So next time I brew..

Yeah I do have an auto siphon, and yeah it is a must have!

    So next time I brew..

And yes it was an extract recipe. Nut Brown Ale. I got exactly 24 22oz bottles, and that is all I have, so it worked out just fine. I just used NB priming calculator online for 4.25GAL and it worked out to be 2.91oz of corn sugar.

    So next time I brew..

I took three samples using a turkey baster. And the owner of my lhbs recommended transferring so I took his advice. I drank the samples as well, no need to risk contamination pouring them back in.

    So next time I brew..

So when I brewed the current batch I just bottled tonight, I started with 5GAL. After transferring to secondary and then to my priming tank, I ended up with 4.25GAL. So next time I brew another batch, should I make my initial level 5.50-5.75GAL? Everything went very smooth, bottling was easy but...

    Keezer/Fermentation Chamber

Would it prematurely wear the freezer out by going from 70F to 40F after fermentation then back again? Granted I can ferment inside my house during the winter, but in the summer the temps fluctuate too much from week to week. Oh only if I had space..

    Keezer/Fermentation Chamber

Is it possible to use a freezer with a temp controller for a fermentation chamber, then turn around and use it for a keezer after beer is kegged? I don't have much room, and would like to use one single unit and I don't anticipate having a full keg and fermenting at the same time (although I...

    Less than 5 Gal?

So should I prime for 5 GAL when the time comes or should I guess on how much I have in my secondary and prime for that amount?

    Less than 5 Gal?

Thanks kh. The volume in the primary fermenter was, I would say, 4.8 GAL. I did tip the fermenter to get more out and I ended sucking a little sediment up, but I'm not too worried about that. It was my first time using an auto siphon, which is a great tool. Thanks for the info on northern...

    Less than 5 Gal?

So after getting 3 consecutive readings on my hydrometer of 1.015, I decided it was time to rack to a secondary. However, I noticed that I had just under 5 GAL in my primary fermenter. When I did my gravity readings, I drank the beer, which was delicious! I know that contributed to my loss of...

Created vacuum after taking hydrometer reading

I did fill it after placing it in the lid, but I kinda caught myself on the lid which caused the vacuum. Next time I would squat, I will be on my knees!

Created vacuum after taking hydrometer reading

Thanks for the quick reply rev, I didn't think I should, but being new I'm worried! I did try it out, it's a Nut Brown Ale, after a week so far so good!

Created vacuum after taking hydrometer reading

So I took my airlock off to take a hydrometer reading, and used the turkey baster method to take my sample which worked very well. After I sanitized the airlock and stopper, I placed it back onto the lid and filled it with water with a little star san in it. I accidentally put too much weight on...

    Newb questions about secondary

The owner of the lhbs that I bought the kit from suggested that I transfer to a secondary. He said it would be fine to leave in the primary for two weeks, but I figured this is something that I would like to get into, why not? Thanks for all the help everyone!
