Ok sorry. I was really just looking for feedback. And as it says on my website prices will be available on the 18th as product is available. Prices will be upper to normal range pricing between 2-4 on oz. Cheers and I guess I will look elsewhere for feedback it's just a shame since this is...

    Colorado Commercial Hydroponic Hops

Hey guys so this forum has been a homebrew tool of mine for quite some time, with all of your help I went from undrinkable beer to gold medals! Thanks for that! I've started the worlds first commercial hydroponics hops operation, Hydro Hop Farms LLC. Our hops are all handpicked, bine...

    Hard Cider won't start fermenting!!

So it seems I now have a clear understanding of this "rhino farts" situation! :) Man this thing smells like I shoved a corpse in my closet! Also I've read a few people say they have not had luck getting cider to start with an ale yeast. Has anyone successfully fermented cider with sa-05 with...

    Hard Cider won't start fermenting!!

UPDATE-- No the tree has never been sprayed with anything, it's lucky if it gets water, lol. So it's hop harvest season and I've been busy picking hops in the greenhouse, so I wasn't able to make a starter or add an oxygen, however upon inspection late last night I notice a film of small...

    Hard Cider won't start fermenting!!

The yeast packets (dry) were stored properly and the Cider House yeast was fresh off the truck from my LHBS (I actually waited around for it to arrive). I don't have a fancy air setup system, but I do have a fishtank airpump and some 1/4" hose. Could I just sanitize the hose plug one end and...

    Hard Cider won't start fermenting!!

pH is around 3.6 (which from what I've read is a correct range). I have checked the gravity and it has actually gone up a bit, I'm guessing from the pectic enzyme releasing more sugars?? It's in one of the new big mouth plastic bubblers and I've never had air leak issues in the past (although...

    Hard Cider won't start fermenting!!

Ok I'm at a loss on this one, so maybe some cider experts can help me out..... I picked fresh apples from my apple tree in the back yard and juiced them to get about 6 gallons worth of juice. I tossed in 5 crushed campden tablets to the 6 gallons of juice and let it sit around with a foam...

How to class a Vanilla IPA for judging?

You can definitely tell it's in there, but it blends so nicely with the citrus hop profile that it really blends together. It's almost like I used a hop with vanilla characteristics....if that makes sense. What are vanilla porters classified as?

How to class a Vanilla IPA for judging?

Well the title says it all.....I brewed an Imperial Vanilla IPA, but I'm not sure whether it is an Imperial IPA or if the vanilla will change the category into a spice/fruit beer or something. Need to get this bad boy entered by the 14th so hopefully my fellow brewers can help me out. Cheers.

First homebrew competition and I got bronze!

Hmmm....I did not receive an email this morning? The suspense is killing me :D

First homebrew competition and I got bronze!

Have you received your medal yet? I have not. Seems that everyone else has received their results except for people who placed. Just wondering. Cheers!

    less wort mean more abv?

That's what I was wondering. The amount of sugars will not change whether or not I brew 3 gallons or 5 gallons. So the abv should always be the same. That's what I thought, but everyone says "oh the beer will be so much stronger" and also according to brewtarget for the same grain bill in a...

    less wort mean more abv?

This was my first AG batch as well. I used a temperature mash at 155F for 50min. I think I will just leave it as is and see how it tastes! I use Brewtarget for my recipes and I'm wondering if I just change the batch size to the final amount I ended up with if the numbers will be correct. For...

    less wort mean more abv?

I just brewed a simple Pale Ale and after transferring into the secondary I realize I've lost a lot of beer! I did a 5 gallon batch and I've ended up with only about 3.5 or 4 gallons. Now I hear people say this beer will be stronger...however does this just describe flavor or abv? Can abv...

Yeast starter - Airlock or foil?

Not an expert, but I would assume that a starter has such high volumes of active yeast that if anything makes it to the liquid it would not be strong enough to propagate amongst all the good guys :) Also while the yeast is actively working it is producing a great deal of CO2 that is forming a...

Yeast starter - Airlock or foil?

Good looking out "Onlooker" I didn't see your post at first. :o Here is a pic of what I use. My LHBS just got these new caps for gallon jars that screw on, but have a hole in the middle for an airlock. As mentioned before I simply don't add the water in the airlock and it works great for my...

Yeast starter - Airlock or foil?

I can't believe someone has brought this up....but why not just use the airlock without water in it???? This will solve all issues, correct? It is much more effective at keeping dust out, O2 can still get in, much easier...etc...etc... This is what I do and I've never had a problem.
