Why are so many people letting beer sit so long??

Not sure, my guess would be that just stirring things up a bit when the beer is transferred causes a lot of the trub, yeast, etc to flock together and then sink to the bottom...just a guess.

Why are so many people letting beer sit so long??

Sorry I could have worded it a bit more tactful, but I thought we were a bunch of DIY beer drinking men (and women) and I wasn't too concerned with hurting peoples feelings...I apologize for the stress I've cause you Rhumbline! RDWHAHB! PS-as to your initial question...this is why I don't...

Why are so many people letting beer sit so long??

I would love a cookie! But more importantly I was proving that good beers can be made in 2 weeks and was hoping to get some intelligent input on the possibility of my beers improving if I let them go longer. :)

What's worse; open solder connection or silicone?

That's not good! I'm leery about going the silicone route as well. Any thoughts on the dangers of exposing a small 2" solder to your sparge water? I'm tempted to just leave things as is...hell More Beer sells the same heating element for brewing (at about twice the cost) so I assume not too...

Why are so many people letting beer sit so long??

To each their own. However I think brewing light beers is actually more challenging, you can't hide any off flavors in such a simple beer. On the other hand when it comes to some 12%+, barrel-aged, coffee, Belgium ester, specialty grain induced beers you can dunk a dead cat into the fermenter...

Why are so many people letting beer sit so long??

I've thought a lot about this, because not only do I risk infection when racking, but it's just another step requiring work and cleaning!! lol However I've found that as soon as I rack into secondary I get a pretty quick clearing of the beer that I wouldn't get if I left it in primary (I did a...

Why are so many people letting beer sit so long??

I'm not bothered by anything people do. I was just seeing if there was a secret key to success that people gained by leaving beer to age longer, and the consensus says there is not. So age on!

Why are so many people letting beer sit so long??

For me it's not a matter of ramping up production of beer rather I'm just anxious to drink it! So I slowly started kegging beer earlier and earlier with every batch and found the flavor was getting better not worse. So now I just wait till gravity is terminal (usually 4-6 days) and then rack...

Why are so many people letting beer sit so long??

*harsh :) I don't post much because I don't have many questions that haven't been already answered on the site, so instead of starting new threads I just soak up all the info! I've brewed over 30 styles and I've received gold medals in 5 different styles (including a 2 week stout) so I do have...

What's worse; open solder connection or silicone?

I have made a simple electric sparge tank using two of those 1000w "allied" bucket heaters and I'm super happy with them. However I do notice on the heating elements there is a small solder where they connect the heat element to the thermometer element. I'm sure it's fine, but I hear people say...

    2015 Hop Harvest Totals

We have used it all as wet so wet so we haven't dried any yet this season, but roughly 4 times water weight...so (300/4=75) 75lbs.

Why are so many people letting beer sit so long??

Thanks for all of the thoughts! It seems we are all in agreement that turning beers around in 2 weeks or less isn't crazy! I was just seeing if there was an off flavor that can contribute to kegging beers early and if so I was going to search for it in mine. I also agree that your system must...

Why are so many people letting beer sit so long??

I've always had the question of why so many homebrewers let their beer sit in primary or secondary for soooo long. Aside from sours, fruit beers and high gravity beers, isn't anything over 1 week in primary and 1 week in secondary bad for the beer? Most commercial brewers thrive on freshness...

    2015 Hop Harvest Totals

I may have an unfair advantage being in a greenhouse using hydroponics, but we have already harvested 300lbs of Wet Hops!!

Never seen an infection like this!?! what is this?

Brewed a simple chocolate hef beer and after transferring into secondary this showed up! Never seen an infection with such a star shaped linear fashion. Can anyone positively identify this? I'd be happy to leave it to do it's thing and end up with a Berliner Weiss of sorts, but if it's bad...

    Colorado Commercial Hydroponic Hops

Absolutely I was always under the impression that soliciting was a "no go" around the site, but then a buddy told me that there is a section made for just that purpose under "For Sale" so I was excited and thus posted there, assuming I was following rules. No worries I'm sure it will behoove...

    Colorado Commercial Hydroponic Hops

Hey no worries I understand that you have a business to run. I'm not trying to solicit my product (it's not even for sale yet) I was just wanting to hear feedback from brewers, I always thought that was a free service, hence the awesomeness of this site... Anyways sorry for any hassle. Good luck.

    Hydroponic Hops First Year Growth!

Hey everyone so there has been many threads about hydroponic hops with various small scale hobby setups, but none of them proving how well it can work. I have a greenhouse with over 750 plants all producing beautifully the first season! All hydroponic, climate controlled, pesticide free! So...
