    My first Beer

Sure did. Set the pressure at 15 psi, opened it up and burped it a few times, until I saw the cold condensed co2 come out of the relief valve. Should be good to go.

    My keezer

Thanks. Not as nice as some posted here, I know. But this one's mine! And I think it turned out pretty decent. It serves cold beer and it isn't an eyesore, so mission accomplished :)

    My first Beer

So I got it into the keg with little issues today. The tubing on my autosiphon was sucking in air. Had to stop, and push it further onto the cane to get it to stop. I doubt that little bit of air that got into it will hurt anything though. Put the keg lid on, and squirted some Co2 into it...

    My keezer

So I finished my keezer today. Bought a 14.8 cuft freezer from home depot, and painted it. Then I built a collar out of 2x4, and covered that with 1x6 red oak that I stained to match my cabinets. One thing I'm waiting for is longer beer hose. I originally bought premade 5ft lines, but...

    Can you use ice

If you're just going to use a tub of ice anyway, what would be the advantage of using a chiller rather than just putting the pot directly in the tub? I understand the surface area would be greater, but is it really that much more efficient/quicker? And is it quick enough to justify the double...

    My first Beer

Thanks for the encouragement. I know, I should really RDWAHAHB, but it's hard to do when it's the first one :) You have a good point on going straight to keg. I think I will do that instead of racking to a secondary. Less chance of contamination, and cuts out an extra step/more stuff to...

    My first Beer

I used bottled distilled water from wally world, so I don't think it was chlorine but it's always possible. And i'm not that good apparently lol. I'm not even sure if this beer will taste good, still a little worried about the alchol-ish flavor. But maybe given some age it'll taste great, who...

    My first Beer

Alright so took a gravity reading yesterday, and one today. Both were spot on 1.013. The taste and color weren't exactly what I was expecting, though. It's thin and more pale than I thought it would be. It's almost a copper color. Taste wise, it's almost like a brown ale, without the hops...

Trip to belgium, western germany, and lux advice?

Be sure to try Leffe Brune, then buy as much as you can take back with you, because it's seriously difficult to find in the states. Also, in Belgium, if you enjoy history, there is a lot of really interesting stuff to see in Bastogne (Battle of the Bulge), or for ww1 stuff you could go to...

    MOST kick ASS movie POLL

sonofabitch. Meant to click Die Hard, as well as Evil Dead 2. So throw another vote up there for Die Hard, because I apparently can't click on things properly.

    Howdy

Awesome, another one in the area. I really need to find a brewing club now.

    My first Beer

I'll have to stick with the pipeline idea for now :) I'd love to try a lager, well really I'd like to make a doppelbock. I don't have time, though. I'm leaving the country on business in August and won't be back for a while. So it will have to wait. Once I get back however, I will give it a...

    Temperture controllers

From what I have read, on that controller you can set a differential set point. You need to set it within one or 2 degrees of your desired set point, otherwise you will get larger temp swings before the controller activates. IE a setpoint of 63, with a differential point of 5 will allow the...

    My first Beer

Good to hear. Also the fridge was a donor (that's why it's so dirty inside. I don't care how it looks as long as it cools), so I just had to buy the Ranco controller. It gets too damn hot and humid here in the summer for me to have to constantly have to worry about my fermenter temps in a...

    My first Beer

Thanks man, hope it winds up tasting as great as it looks. The waiting is the toughest part. Told my friend that also homebrews that I'm going to be slow carbing it, and he's said "so what 3 days?" I told him a week carbing and he couldn't believe it. He's not as good at the patience thing...

    Cool or Unusual bottle openers

You can have mine after your pry it from my cold drunken hands. I'm surprised you got it on your keychain. Isn't it a bit unwieldly? I tried, and it kept getting caught on everything.

    My first Beer

I'm in the process of brewing my first beer. I offered my equipment and the Spring Irish Stout from AHS, and did my boil last Wednesday. Brew day went great, my dad and I really enjoyed the process. I went with the Muntons Premium Gold Ale dry yeast, because I don't have the starter...

    Howdy

Hi, been lurking here for a few months now, and finally made an account. I guess it would be a good idea to introduce myself. My name's Nolan. I'm 28, and living in Lake Jackson, Tx, which is a small-ish town about an hour south of Houston. One of my friends got me into brewing after I...
