    Beergas in Houston

I think i want to go ahead and add a nitro tap to my keezer. Before I do, I want to make sure that I'll be able to actually get gas. Does anyone know who supplies beergas in Houston or the surrounding area? I see there is actually a company called Beergas Co, but they're now owned by...

Missed my numbers, how will this affect the final beer?

Yeah, guess I mathed wrong. Thanks for correcting me. That pretty much changes everything. It looks like my FG will be pretty close to expected, even with the OG being 10 points off.

    only 1 keg over carbed?

Slow force carbed. I set the reg then hooked the gas up. And set them in the freezer. After a couple of days I give them a little shake to make sure the gas is distributed, after that I leave them alone. For a while the ale was good, only today its too foamy

    only 1 keg over carbed?

So I have 3 kegs ona distributor block. 2 of them are fine, but one (an ale) is pushing a ton of foam. The stout and hefe are just fine. Im serving at 12psi with 5ft lines. The stout keg hss bern on the longest(3-4 weeks), and is nearly tapped, the ale not as long(2-3 weeks) and the hefe is...

    First try

Thanks for the feedback! I'm not really that big on hops, at least not in my stouts. I was actually considering switching the aroma hops for something weaker (galena?) or removing them altogether and adjusting the malt accordingly. If I were to try actually making this, I'll use wyeast 1028 or...

    First try

Alright, thanks for the help. I think it's back to the drawing board. I've gotten some insight in how the recipe making process works, so this just encourages me to do more research and come back with something better! edit:do keep in mind, that I'm wide open on hops, so if I choose a...

    First try

sorry, I goofed when i posted the recipe. I hadn't changed the equipment in beersmith to BIAB. This is what the corrected recipe should read with 70% efficiency, 13 gal brew pot (6 gal brewed) BIAB. I only adjusted the numbers to maintain around the same IBU/SRM/ABV, this is without any...

    First try

Playing with the numbers, it looks like I could cut the chocolate 4oz and add 8oz of roasted barley (total of 8 and 8). Would going half and half be enough to cut the harsh bitterness of the roasted, or would I have a more mellow beer if I fudged the numbers more? The idea I was going for was...

    First try

So I just got Ray Daniel's book in the mail today. Man this thing is awesome. There's so much information, it's going to take forever to tackle all of it. But I went ahead and skimmed quite a bit, and the excitement got too much for me. So I jumped on beersmith and decided to attempt...

    dan@stirstarters

I ordered a stir starter and a 2L flask on the 14th. I'm pretty excited to try it out. His stir starters really seem like the best deal around, and look way better than any of my diy projects :)

Advice on all grain brewing equipment

Great, that sounds like the plan then. I mean, the difference in price is negligible anyway. Besides, I've been thinking 10 gallon split batches might not be a bad idea to try out different yeasts and ferm temps :) I plan on keeping the turkey fryer as-is, it should have plenty of heat to...

Advice on all grain brewing equipment

I'm planning on making the switch soon as well. I already have a turkey fryer with a 30qt pot that I use for my extract brews. I'm thinking of using the 30 at for heating my sparge water and buying another pot for my wort. Should I pick up a 40qt or go ahead and step up to a 60? I only...

    which yeast for hefe?

Yeah, I did some reading and agree with you about those two being american wheats and not true hefeweizens. I have had, and enjoyed ayinger brau weisse. My dad enjoyed it as well. It may come down to finding out if he wants a beer that's more banana or more spice-like. I already have...

    which yeast for hefe?

So I'm trying to decide on a yeast for my Bavarian hefe. I don't usually drink them, so I'm not sure what flavor profile I want. My dad is the one that requested I make one. He likes the Lienenkugels summer wheat as well as the pyramid hefeweizen. I have a packet of danstar Munich and a...
