    Help with IIPA recipe

Hey y'all. I want to do an Imperial IPA and I have a bunch of pellet hops to use. I have plenty of [email protected]%, Zeus@15% and cascade@6%. Can anyone think of a recipe that would work out only using these hops? Looking for a 10gal batch. Looking forward to anything you got that will help...

    Hop Rhizome question

Hey thanks for the info. I bought Cascade and Centennial. I like IPAs and the hop price for making that style gets pretty high. Kits are ridiculous but hops by the pound are where its at and then I figured the home grown hops would be a nice touch for my brews.

    Hop Rhizome question

Hello, Just received 2 hop rhizomes today from Willamette Valley Hops. I can't wait to get them in the ground! My question is this: How long can I keep them before planting them? I am assuming a couple days will be fine, but I was just wondering. Also, any specific planting/growing...

Moose Drool by Big Sky Brewery

Hey Az, I tried your recipe again tonight and holy crap is it good (been 3 weeks in the keg and brewed about 8 weeks ago)! Thanks again for the recipe. One question, does yours turn out with a real dark chocolaty finish? I made some very minor subs to the recipe...one was I used London ale...

American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

I used the US-05 instead of Notty. I also fermented at around 70. My fermenter fridge went tango uniform on me so 70 is all i get. I tasted the beer after 1 week when transferring to secondary... smelled great but (I guess the term is estery??) very yeasty flavor (same flavor at 10 days). I...

American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

Hello Mr Ed, First of all, I brewed up your haus pale ale and I have high hopes. Your claim is grain to glass in 10 days which is one of the reasons I wanted to try this. It has been 6 days today and I threw the hydrometer at it...1.010. Boom! (its still bubbling as we speak 6 days later) I...

A Question For The IPA Pro's...

Hey everyone, thanks. Yooper-a special shout out. I made your Ruination clone recently and its a very good beer! I guess that's kind of the flavor base I'm going for, I could drink 12 of those easily. As for the Bells, I'm from Traverse City, Mi so I have to give love to the Mi brewers...

A Question For The IPA Pro's...

OK, I'm not new but I'm not old. To brewing that is...I have tried lots of different IPA's. In fact, every time I get the chance, I'll try a new one. I am drawn to Double IPA's more than not but I'm not really sure what makes a "double a double or a single a single". Also, the ones I like...

Moose Drool by Big Sky Brewery

I brewed this beer on the 23rd of Nov and tried it today. First of all, I made a VERY good beer. However, it turned out more like a chocolate stout than Moose Drool; which is totally fine with me. Not sure why it turned out more like a stout that Moose Drool but...anyway, I used a different...

Brew Your Own Ranger IPA Recipe

I brewed this recipe about 7 weeks ago. I left it in the primary to include the dry hop for 30 days. Been in the bottle 3 weeks. I will say this...not ranger, but, good pale ale. As someone else stated, not enough late hop additions. The hop flavor is mild. I used simcoe and at 2.weeks not...

    Stone Ruination IPA

Just brewed up the Stone Ruination IPA...with a few changes. I got the recipe from this site, the BYO magazine addition. I changed a couple of things about the hops and added some brown sugar. The recipe called for 2.25 oz of Magnum, instead I used 2oz of Columbus, tossed in .5oz centennial...

How Long Till I Can Drink

This is what I do...I can't help it... I have to try 1 every week to taste the development of the conditioning. When I first started brewing it was frustrating because at week one and sometimes week two, they don't taste very good. Like the good reverend says...3 weeks is about the key. For...

    A message to the "Newbies"...

OK, I use the term "Newbie" loosely. I have been brewing for about a year and a half so I am in no way an expert, nor do I consider myself a newbie. I do have about 25 batches under my belt and I feel I can safely offer this...I see many new brewers do exactly like I did when I first...

Making an 8% ABV into 4%???

I was listening to BN today (an older episode) and they were talking about one of the guys taking a higher gravity all grain beer and diluting it with water to double the batch-- after fermentation, just before bottling/kegging. He claimed to take 10 gallons of 8% brew and dilute it to 20...

Ed, You say this turned out like Double Wide? I'm looking for a recipe with a flavor like the Double Wide. Love it! Look forward to more updates... Taco :D
