Bottom drain keggle - Weld an elbow?

If I am going to fit a bottom drain to my keggle, is there any reason I shouldn't have a welder weld it directly, rather than attach a coupler or spud and screw the elbow in?

1" spud for heating element, protecting the electrical connection

Thank you both, very nice ideas. I wanted to find a way to screw a plastic elbow on, maybe using an inner and outer threaded port/spud/coupling/union. Element threading inside and plastic elbow the covering and leading the wires down. Probably going to cost a lot more, if the appropriate part...

1" spud for heating element, protecting the electrical connection

For those of you that use a welding spud to mount your element in, how have you then covered the electrical connections?

Coleman Wheeled Xtreme 5 Cooler Mash Tun (with CPVC manifold)

Very nice. I thought it was small, the extreme 5 made me think 5gallon. What about fitting bigger plastic wheels so you retain the ability to wheel and tip but the valve will clear. You would need to add front legs to keep it level when mashing.

    Keggle Faucet Connector Pickup tube

I am not sure if I am phrasing the question poorly. I ordered the gasline which comes with compression fittings. Don't see why it wouldn't work.

    Keggle Faucet Connector Pickup tube

I am now planning to use flexible stainless gas line instead. Same questions, will it work? Is it safe?

    Keggle Faucet Connector Pickup tube

Could one use a hot water, plastic covered by stainless braid, faucet connector as a siphon pickup tube in a keggle? I mean to say that I would use it unmutilated, with the plastic tubing left inside the braid so it would simply pickup. I want to do this to avoid having to bend stainless pipe...

45 Degree NPTstraight tube Pickup, Keggle

So the cheapest way to do a pickup tube is copper tubing. The price of keggle parts seems to mount up quick. Am I very Scottish?

45 Degree NPTstraight tube Pickup, Keggle

If I put a 45 degree NPT fitting on the inside of my weldless bulkhead could I then use a straight tube down to the center for pickup, rather than buying a bent stainless tube fitting into a standard coupling? Do I save any money by doing this? Do i lose any flexbility in the future? (ie why...
