    BIAB question for a noob

You won't need them. There is no "run off" of wort, you just lift the bag and let it drain. By the way BIAB makes great beer.

    Infection?

    Normal fermentation process.

a friend tried one of my homebrews...

Don't be offended. Asking a regular BMC drinker for an opinion on a beer is like seeking advice on good restaurants from someone who eats at McDonald's every day. I say that to make a point, but the comparisons are not that far apart. If your BMC friends don't like it you are probably on the...

The yeast will dominate the flavor of this beer. What yeast is included in the kit?

    Fermentation Temp Wyeast Belgian Wit

Be sure to use a blowoff tube with that yeast. I learned that the hard way.

    Green Peroni Bottles?

Peroni bottles are hard to cap. If you look at them from the side they have a double lip on them that makes them hard to cap. I don't use them for that reason. Look at them side by side with other bottles and you will see the difference.

    Going all grain, have ~$300......

You can do it for a lot less than $300. Depending on the size of your boil kettle, you may have all the equipment you need to start all-grain brewing. You can read more about it here. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f36/biab-brewing-pics-233289/ I have made all-grain beer with brew in a bag...

    Fermentation question

You can use your hydrometer to determine when your beer is done fermenting. If you get consistent readings for 3 days in a row then the beer is done. The general rule on bottle conditioning is a minimum of 2 or 3 weeks.

    In need of bottling advice

It's easier to prime the entire batch at once and then bottle, as opposed to priming each bottle individually.

American Pale Ale Nierra Sevada (Session SNPA Clone)

BierMuncher strikes again with Nierra Sevada!!!! Another killer recipe. My first AG was his superb centennial blonde. I highly recommend his centennial for someone just making the switch from extract. Just took a reading and tasted this beer after 2 weeks in primary. Beer is finished...

    Cooler conversion help

Regarding brass....from Palmer..... Cleaning Brass Some brewers use brass fittings in conjunction with their wort chillers or other brewing equipment and are concerned about the lead that is present in brass alloys. A solution of two parts white vinegar to one part hydrogen peroxide (common...

    Cooler conversion help

The conversion is easy once you have all the parts. The stainless washers are the toughest to find. You can find them at home depot in a package called "create a bolt." I am using brass fittings with no issues.

Converting Igloo Cooler to Mash Tun Questions

5/8 will work. If you are using the Igloo 5 gal for a HLT only you could also use the spigot off your bottling bucket and save the parts you have bought for the rubbermaid.

Converting Igloo Cooler to Mash Tun Questions

I just made the same conversion with a 5 gallon igloo i found at a garage sale. Assuming you used Fly Guy's mas tun conversion, all parts will work. The difference is that the rubbermaid grommet will firmly hold the brass nipple (Watts A-786) but the igloo will not. I ended up using 2 flat...
