What kind of efficiency are you getting?I just broke in my new MM2 the other day,may adjust it to a more aggressive crush for next brewday.This may lend to a longer sparge and better efficiency.

Curious as to how some of you sparge for an hour or longer. I am currently sparging by heating sparge water in a pot on stove and pouring it over the grain bed with a quart measuring cup and this only takes me 10 mins.I only hit 70% efficiency and I blame most of that on my sparge.

Thank you for the reply. I am going to brew a Brown today,I haven't brewed on the GF since last summer.IIRC I used the instructions and wound up with an extra gallon prior to boiling.Not a biggie as you have mentioned as a longer boil will remedy that.Cheers!

Curious as to what the consensus is regarding water calculations. Do you prefer the GF app,website or instruction sheet for determining the mash and sparge volumes.

Thanks for the replies. I will be brewing tomorrow so I put the starter back on the stir plate yesterday in order to wake up the yeasties.

Something came up today and i am not going to be able to brew.I have had 1000ml of wlp002 on a stir plate for two days. Should I just cover the E flask and put in fridge?It will be 2 weeks before I can brew with it.

I currently have a 1000ml starter of WLP 002 on my stir plate. I have noticed that there seems to be some type of break in suspension in the starter. I haven't seen this before. Any suggestions as to what it may be?
