    Kegging advice

Foam issues seem to be more of a problem of line length. I use picnic taps and get a great pour. I think Pratzie and I are using the same LHBS because I get ball locks for $25 also it's a great deal.

Bottling carb for an Scottish/80 schilling

Your welcome. I did it to style and didn't care for it just chalked it up to a learning experience. My guess 12 PSI in a typical kegerator is probably around 2.5 volumes. There is no way to tell for sure because is depends on the temperature of the keg. I think 2.0 volumes is probably a good...

Bottling carb for an Scottish/80 schilling

I did an English Mild recently and carbed to 1.5 and was disappointed. It was pretty flat I wish I would have carbed it to at least 2.0 volumes.

New pot - how to mark

Ummm no it isn't, says so right on the sharpie. "Nontoxic, conforms to ASTM D-4236. Made in the USA" Wonder what is coming off the cheap Chinese ruler.

New pot - how to mark

Really? Most of it comes off when I wash my pot. If your worried about a little sharpie ink in your beer it must suck to live in a bubble. Sorry I even replied.

New pot - how to mark

Add one gallon and measure the height. Add another gallon and measure the height again and take the difference. The reason not to take the first dimension is because the pot is rounded at the bottom so the dimension may be a little different. I marked my pot with a sharpie it holds up...

Recipe reduction for 7,6 gallons pot BIAB

Glad it worked out for you. I wouldn't worry too much about the OG, that's pretty good.

    Higher quality picnic tap

I have seen guys attach a regular faucet to a short piece of board like a 1x4 and just leave it in the fridge or hang it from a shelf.

Recipe reduction for 7,6 gallons pot BIAB

This will max out a 7 gallon pot full volume. You could always dunk sparge in another smaller pot then boil. I wasn't sure if you had a 7 or 6 gallon pot. You should download brewtarget (it's free) and you can enter any recipe and scale it down to whatever size you want under the tools menu.

Recipe reduction for 7,6 gallons pot BIAB

You will need to sparge more water in another pot and maybe end up with a little less volume. I would scale the recipe down a little maybe make 4 - 4.5 gallon batch instead. I use the excel sheet from the website below and it works great for the volume the grain and water will take up. If you...

What is a Good Wheat Beer Yeast?

I recently used WLP380 and it came out great. Controlling your fermentation temps can make a difference in the characteristics you get out of the yeast.

Trick of the Trade: How do you measure your water? R

I marked the inside of my brew kettle with a sharpie. I have only had to touch it up once so far. The only problem is during a boil reading it with all the steam.

    Vols of CO2 in bottles?

I did a Hefe to 3.5 without any issues. I was bit concerned but everything I read 4 volumes is about the max for a regular bottle. I would just condition them in a cooler or rubbermaid container just in case.

    Pubstitute Scotch/English Session Porter??

I have a batch of Reapers English mild bottle conditioning now and I mashed that at 158. It finished at 1.012 with Nottingham. The hydrometer sample had plenty of malt not thin at all. If you added 4 oz of roasted barley to the recipe above it would put you at the higher end for the style...

    Pubstitute Scotch/English Session Porter??

I had to delete the youtube interview for some reason so that I could reply. I was wondering how close the Northern Brewer 60 Schilling recipe is to this beer. I threw it into brewtarget and it comes pretty close to the specs. MASH INGREDIENTS -- 5 lbs. Maris Otter -- 1 lbs Briess Caramel 80L...

    Brooklyn brew shop?

I think I may have actually doubled this one since I was brewing this with my brother in-law and we wanted more bottles. I would use the Bourbon soaked oak chips it really adds to the recipe. We dumped all the bourbon and chips in when it was called for. I shared some with friends and they...

    Brooklyn brew shop?

I got started with the Brooklyn kits. The Bourbon Dubbel I brewed turned out great. Knowing what I know now I would use a 5 gallon paint strainer bag just like BIAB. I have since moved on to 5.5 gallon batches it's great introduction to all grain brewing.

    Pubstitute Scotch/English Session Porter??

After watching this interview I was interested in this beer/style also. I am interested to see how this works out.
