    Late Addition IPA critique

So I've been wanting to do a late addition IPA and decided on simcoe and amarillo. With a quick search, I found this other recipe https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f12/late-hop-ipa-179503/ hops are pretty much identical to what i'm wanting to do, but grain bill is a bit different. I'm just...

American Pale Ale Da Yooper's House Pale Ale

I think the point of taking into account the temperature is to factor how much co2 from fermentation is still in there, the warmer it got the more wouldve been released from solution, when you cool it down it doesnt absorb anymore more because it cant get through your airlock. Or maybe i just...

    No chill method question

Also, just wanted to add that i recently.had a brilliant idea to use a square shaped cooler as a giant ice bath, i use just my IC until 80-90, then dunk the kettle in the cooler with ice and fill with water until.the kettle is about to float. Just in case youre doing no chill out of necessity...

    No chill method question

Even tjough i have an immersion chiller, in the summer timei. Frequently have ground water 80+. I chill as far as feasible andt hem stick it in the ferm chamber. Ive gotten some really interesting looking break material from this. But everything came out fine. From 80-65 is usually ready for...

    wlp500 holy attentuation

So i brewed a simple belgian ale recipe last sunday, 9 days ago, checked my gravity today as activity has been over for a couple days, and holy 1.000 batman! I wanted this to finish dry but wow not quite that low. Mashed at about 149-150, i pitched a starter at about 62 and let it rise...

A Great deal (hopefully) / LME NEVER AGAIN!!!

Doesnt lme have a lower yeild per pound of dme? Im on my phone, but i thougjt dme had the highest yeild.per pounf of grain lme and dme. If the weight was the same i would assume a lower gravity. Dme has no water. Lme has water, so it would be less extracted... unless i missed a vital part of...

    Fermentation temperature discussion

Smccarter, even in the most vulnerable of the brews you let me try (the blonde i would say) i did not taste any evidence of fusels or other flavors associated with "high" fermentation temps. Now im mot saying i have the most refined palette by any means. I think honestly if you like the way...

    all grain theory versus practice

Definately would be ideal, (and my first instinct was yay, i can buy more brew gear!) i just cant justify the expense to swmbo, my tun handles 95% of what i brew, i really dont neeed the bigger tun, just need to know how to improvise with the extract once or twice a year. I prefer 1.050 - 1.060...

    all grain theory versus practice

This is exactly what i planned to do. My tun holds temps better when its filled to the brim. Excellent so for the most part is really is as simple as i thought, just use extract to hit the target og. Beautiful. Thanks for the feedback folks.
