Boil off volume - need help dialing in my system in Beersmith

Down here on the gulf coast we boil off about a gallon per decade, true story :) mug

    Mash Tun Volume

Or just mash a little thicker than usual.

Correcting expected mash gravity with thick mash

I use two handfuls of rice hulls in all my 5 gallon batches. Theyre super cheap and a pound will last 4 or 5 batches. Also, a red flag shouldve gone up when it told you 10 gallons of strike water for a 10 gallon cooler. Beersmith is cool, but i really only use it to formulate recipes...

    roasted barley versus black patent

So I'm just finishing up what I think I'm going to call my chocolate milk stout recipe. I have just a couple questions before i go to pick up ingredients for this tomorrow. I'm looking for solid roast flavor, but not too terribly much astringency. Now i understand this is subjective, but...

    excessive foaming on kegerator

I may have had it overxarbed this whole time. Ive been periodically going and purging it while its disconnected from the co2. I attached the co2 and set it to 10 psi and got foam at first, but the second half came out fine. It was much less carbed than it was earlier when i set it really low...

    excessive foaming on kegerator

Did some more experimenting, looks like it gets less foam the more i pour.

    excessive foaming on kegerator

Ok, i dumped several pints of foam and then purged the keg a bit and seems to be pouring better, i dropped the psi from 12 down to 10, im at about 39 degrees.

    excessive foaming on kegerator

Ok, im seriously about to lose it. Ive put 12' of 3/16 ID line on here and im still getting nothing but foam. Theres some bubbles in the line it looks like, i dont think it should be there... im not seeing any signs of leaks. Why is this all foam?

    Govt shutdown

My folks would agree with that, the entire organization is apparently very very top heavy. Too many managing, not enough working.

    Govt shutdown

Usps is a completely private entity, it receives all of its funding internally, from postage, etc. My parents both work for usps. Whoops, looks l ike somone already addressed that.

    pensacola area brewers

The one in the grolsch was a honey blonde. About a 1/2# of honey malt in a blonde recipe. I think farmhouse ale is just another word for saison. Not sure, but i think so. Im really pumped that youre enjoying them. Its nice to get some feedback on them. I feel like they were all pretty...

    pensacola area brewers

Awesome, i really appreciate the feedback! The scotch ale was not my favorite either. I do generally prefer more malt forward brews, but enjoy balance and hop forward as well. I cracked one of the cynics last night and it was great! Did you use 1214 on that one? Its got similar yeast...

    A very busy week

Id really love to try the cynic, thinking about brewing it myself. Ive only got 4 different beers in bottles right now and two kegged. I have a NB milk stout, NB belgian, bitter amber and a honey blonde. Ill try to leave a little early for work tonight and maybe swing by for a couple minutes...

    Low Gravity During Sparge

I think its 1.010 corrected, you were likely a bit higher than you thought you were, or what the hydro was showing. Edit- someone beat me to the punch.
