Giving up on my fancy conical...

Sidebar: I've thought of doing this myself some day. Where did you source the stainless funnel from?

What's the "weirdest" ingredient you've used?

Did a spiced sweet potato ale once with 5lbs of roasted sweet potatoes. If I ever do it again, I'l use canned sweet potatoes and way less spice. Still, made an interesting beer. It also got infected and made an interesting sour. 🤢

    Draft Tower Shank Query

It's been five years since I changed them. They're currently vinyl tube and have been sitting at room temp with beer in them for a couple weeks because we just moved and don't have everything sorted yet. Hence, if I'm going to make any upgrades or changes, now be the time to do it.

    Draft Tower Shank Query

Are those John Guest fittings easy to work with? Easy to remove when need be?

The Micromatic shank is the unit I was looking for. Thanks! And I suck at bending stairnless!

    Brewzilla Gen4 Discussion/Tips Talk

For my part, I am giving serious thought to selling my kettle RIMs system and buying a 65L Brewzilla 4. I have a 240v outlet outside and the idea of being about to make up my water the night before and mash in first thing is tantalizing. As is the ease of cleaning relative to the Frankenstein...

    Recipe Feedback - simple stout

Don't use sugar of any kind unless you're trying to dry the beer out. Sugar tends to ferment out without leaving much character behind. Most extract brewers typically steep their grains for 30 minutes, add the DME at the start of the boil, and boil for however long the recipe calls for. The...

    Draft Tower Shank Query

I believe that's what the guy used on his kegerator and what I've been looking for. The reason I'm considering these is that it'll make changing draft lines easier in the future. As it sits right now, I almost have to disassemble the entire draft tower to change the lines and it's not easy.

    Draft Tower Shank Query

Right but my challenge has been finding a 8"-10" 90° tailpiece. I know they exist because I've seen them before but my Googlefu isn't strong enough to locate them online.

    Draft Tower Shank Query

Hello, A former friend of mine had a commercial kegerator whose draft tower shanks had long "tails" with threaded connections at the ends instead of barbed connections. I'd like to replace the shanks in my kegerator with those but I cannot seem to find them online. So I thought I'd consult...

are laundromats really that big a thing in the US?

I've never seen a washing machine that would fit in place of a dishwasher. Not saying they don't exist, but I've never heard of it. There's no reason you couldn't have a stackable washer/dryer combo in the kitchen area since it's near the kitchen plumbing - and indeed I know of apartments with...

are laundromats really that big a thing in the US?

I'd say that every housing development since maybe 1980 has a dishwasher. I don't recall being in any apartments ever that did not. Typically, all it takes to hook up a dishwasher is a space between cabinets near the kitchen sink and access to the kitchen sink's hot water tap and drain, as...

are laundromats really that big a thing in the US?

There's still plenty of laundromats in the States. My former stepfather used to own several and I spent time as a teenager working with him to keep them running. Having seen what goes into the machines (e.g. poopy cloth baby diapers, etc) I prefer to avoid them. That, and they're frequently...

    cheap easy dens idea

This is an interesting theory. The fly in the ointment though is that the wort/beer must be the same temp for all samples so you're measuring the exact same sample volume each time. Otherwise it'll be difficult to get an accurate answer. Personally, I'd use a hydrometer or save up for an...

Adding a 240 volt outlet to my garage.

Your electrician can definitively answer 100% of your questions. Talk to him/her, explain what you want to do, and allow him to develop a solution. Now...with that said, similar situation: I had the panel changed out at the house I just bought. There was a TT-30 travel trailer receptacle...

first time using dry Lutra: 87% attenuation

I've read elsewhere where kveik yeasts have a habit if muting hop flavors. I use Lutra quite a bit but I never use it in a hop forward style for that reason. I generally use US-05 instead.

Dry lager yeast: should I make a starter?

Just do it and don't tell anybody and you'll probably make a delicious beer.

    Adventures in Homebrewing (aka Homebrewing.org)

Anybody else feel like Northern Brewer bought AIB/AHS just to take them out of the marketplace? They closed down the locations, consolidated the inventory back to a central warehouse, can't ship anything, and spam customers with endless emails. It's almost like they're trying to destroy these...

    Propane burner

I brew with propane. My best investment has been a Blichmann Hellfire. I could kick myself for not buying one sooner.
