American Sanke Keg Fermenter Kit with Thermowell

Chico Company has the weld on threading for ball lock keg posts. Been meaning to add a couple to a 2" tc dust cap I have to see if I can improve on the sanke fermenter setup I have.

    Recirculating through entire mash process

I have a TOP controller and recirculate through the mash and on all transfers and whirlpool and transfer to fermenter. I have zero issues with attenuation or head retention versus the old days when I used to use gravity. I have a friend who is a pro brewer who recirculates through the second...

    Gypsum Or Lactic Acid?

Use lactic. It's inexpensive and, in the doses you'll need, won't impart any flavors. I usually use it in my mash and sparge liquor and save the salts for the boil to enhance one flavor or another or add Calcium for yeast health. The beauty of using acid preboil is that I don't have to...

    Who's got the cheapest PBW?

I have pretty soft water and have used this recipe with the Sun Oxygen cleaner and Red Devil TSP (3:1). Works extremely well. Never an issue with deposits (and I have left it sitting in kegs for a couple of weeks.

Make sure to get the Rustoleum "Ultra" Stove Paint. The regular stove paint is a flat black and rubs off like crazy. The gloss black does much better.

    Integrated Kitchen Brewery/Keezer build

Wow! I sure missed out on this from the get go, but it was fun reading it and seeing it come together all at once. Beautiful build. Oddly, I think the reclaimed wood walls is one of my favorite parts.

    Old Cornelius Cold Plate Fittings

I had an old one several years ago and found the barbed fittings that screw in at Midwest Supplies. If they don't have it, try Chi Company.

    Anyone hard-piped their whirlpool inlet?

My whirlpool loop goes through my CFC. If I'm adding whirlpool hops, I will whirlpool without chilling water on for 15 minutes or so. If no whirlpool hops, I will chill at the same time until the temp drops to about 100 F. At that point, I will turn off the whirlpool and let it settle for...

    Pliny the Elder...

I was actually about to post just the opposite of this when I saw your post. Obviously, you're entitled to your opinion. But for all the press/hype this beer gets, I was truly impressed with it when I finally got a chance to try it (back in the beer on ebay days). I have yet to have another...

    Lazy Man's Single Decoction

I know this is nothing new, but I figured I would post up a couple of pictures. Brewed a Helles last night. Typically, I use melanoidin malt, but my LHBS doesn't stock it currently. So for a little color and flavor, I decided to do a single decoction at mashout. I have done them before and...

    DIY Walk In Cooler Build

Thanks for the compliment. I bought the house before I knew much about HOAs. I'll probably wish I had one the minute some dirtbag moves in across the street.

    DIY Walk In Cooler Build

Congrats! Glad it worked out for you. As for benefits from HOAs, I will chime in as someone who has the benefit of not having one. It's bliss. Deed restrictions are enough to keep people in line around here and we have never had an issue. I'm lucky to have good neighbors for sure. One of...

As long as you have good flow and accurate control over mash temp, direct fire works very well.

    Banjo Burner Natural Gas Conversion

I edited the post above. I did not use the banjo burner high pressure regulator. Sorry. Brain fart. I went 3/4" pipe about 20' from the meter and another 15' of 3/4" hose to the stand. At the stand, I had 3/8" pipe to the burners (about 1--3 feet depending on the burner. Worked fine. The...

    Banjo Burner Natural Gas Conversion

This is most probably not the right way to do it, but this is what I did at the time, not knowing any better. I screwed in the orifices from Williams Brewing and connected it to my gas plumbing on the stand (3/8" pipe). I connected the gas plumbing on the stand to the hose and high pressure...

    Schematics for Brew Stand?

I drew mine up in MS paint (I suck at sketchup, too). Mine was single tier. So I laid it out on the floor with masking tape to be sure all my kettles would fit the dimensions I thought they would. Measure twice, tape once, then cut. Also, build it to accommodate what you have plus at least...

Motorized Grain Mills: Time to show them off!

You also want to go with something that has a relatively low rpm (or can be set to a low rpm). I think my motor turns about 110 rpm. Reverse is a great function to have. Sometimes, they stick. Throwing it into reverse for a second alleviates this.

Motorized Grain Mills: Time to show them off!

That's what I hear. I got mine a few years ago. If it ever goes down, I'm having it rebuilt. :rockin:
