English Ales - What's your favorite recipe?

I’m pretty new to brewing English styles, but have been enjoying brewing lower abv bitters lately. How do these age - non cask versions specifically. Im thinking about brewing a bitter around 1.045 to age for about 6 months? Does that sound ok, or are these beers better fresh?

Using my beer gun for a brett beer and sac beers. How possible is it?

I use my beer gun on both Wild and Clean beers. I never did have a problem with it, and do it fairly often for the last several years. I was also worried about that black piece on the tip, I boiled it initially, but eventually just cleaned it really well and sanitized. I don't really get...

    SS BrewTech Useless Valve

I would assume the reason he changed out the valve, is because it did not fit into his process well. I also have 2 SS Buckets as well as a Spike Conical. I have modified the buckets with the domed lids and blow off canes that I added compression fittings and additional valves to. The domed...

    SS BrewTech Useless Valve

I'm curious what you are planning on using beside the vale. I hate that valve as well, but have not figured out a better solution yet.

    Bootleg Biology Beta Berliner Blend

Are you going to be bottling this? I think it would be interesting to sample some of this very young, and continue as it ages. I don't age my Berliners on the Brett very long (1.5-2 months). I have not used that Blend, but it sounds super cool. Brevis is by far my favorite LAB .

the BJCP so called certification drives me crazy

I enjoy submitting beers to Competitions, however, I don't really get to stressed about it. I have done pretty well, and it is a good feeling when others credit your hard work. Honestly, my best beers don't fit well into style guidelines and I don't enter them into Competition. I have been...

Ss Brew Bucket Personal Upgrades and Ideas

I don't have any pics available to me right now, but I have done some upgrades on my 2 buckets. I have the domed lid with stainless blow off canes. I installed a ball valve to the blow off so I can seal the fermenter before hooking up a co2 line to it. The beer is never exposed to O2, as I...

Full Volume Mashing and False Bottoms

Hello! I just finished building my new 2 vessel system and set out to do my first brew today. It was a total nightmare, as I could not get the grain bed to set as I continued to clog the hoses and pump. I previously I have been recirculating using a BIAB bag and I never had any problems...

British Golden Ale Miraculix Best - Classic English Ale

Yes. What I posted was the end result of my tap water after I make various additions. I am using Brunwater to end up with these results. I'm sure I could build a perfect English water profile from RO water, but I think my water will sufffice for this. We shall see!! I really appreciate all...

British Golden Ale Miraculix Best - Classic English Ale

I’m gonna brew this one here pretty soon. I have all the ingredients, and have been wanting to brew some English Ales lately. I had quite the adventure getting the Golden Syrup, but managed to track it down. Here’s the question: I ended up with two different types of Lyles golden syrup...

    EBiab with the Boil Coil

Thank you all for you replies. I have been successfully using a fine grind and good insulation to do single infusion mashes for quite some time. It works very well as a method and has produced many beers that I have been proud of. For various reasons and curiosity, I want to explore...

    EBiab with the Boil Coil

I have slowly been making the move towards brewing indoors and getting off the propane. Last weekend I brewed my first batch on my EBIAB system, everything went pretty well. I did have a few questions, mainly about adding heat and recirculating. Last brew I did not bring in all my...

    Water Report Q's

The brewing went well. I made the additions as mentioned previously, hit all my numbers, etc etc. I took a sample of the wort after my mash rest was complete. I let it cool down to 60 and took my reading, which was 5.6 I was unaware that there was a conversion here and assumed that all of...
