My chile beer is too spicy, can it be fixed?

How many chipotles did you put in it? I'm toying with the idea of doing a similar beer soon and am curious "how much is too much".

    Barleywine OG

I'm not sure what exactly I've been doing, lol. Hopefully I figure this stuff out before my next batch, because I'm tired of suffering from AG failure. Let me see if I correctly understand batch sparging: -Let's say at the end of my hour long mash, after recirculating the wort, I yield 4...

    Barleywine OG

The OG was measured when the wort was at 70 degrees. I had to add around 1 gallon of water to get the total volume up to 5 gallons. I mixed it in well and did not take a diluted sample. Is there anything I can do to boost the ABV of this thing? I highly doubt that I'll be able to, but...

    Barleywine OG

Per the instructions from Defalco's, I striked with 6 gallons @ 168 degrees. The temperature maintained around 153 for an hour. Using a two liter pitcher, I recirculated the wort 5 times and sparged, collecting around 6.5 gallons in my 7.5 gallon kettle. Although I think I've got most of...

    Barleywine Ideas

First and foremost, I wish you the best of luck with your health issues. Secondly, thank you for the link to your recipe. I'm certainly going to use parts of it, though I don't know that I can wait 5 years to drink it!

    Barleywine Ideas

I'm going to be making my first barleywine on Saturday. This is the basic recipe I'm going with, courtesy of Defalco's: Grains 18 lbs. Domestic Special Pale malt 1 lb. Munich malt 1 lb. Light Crystal malt Hops 1 oz. Columbus or Summit hops (bittering) 1 oz. Centennial hops...

    Carbing a Keg Without CO2

Thanks, y'all! I'm probably going to go with Burgs' "set it and forget it" method. If I have the patience for an Imperial Stout to bottle age, I'll have the patience for the Rauchbier to carbonate.

    Carbing a Keg Without CO2

I brewed a Rauchbier that will be ready to move out of the fermenter on Saturday. I am going to keg for the first time. However, I only have the keg itself. It's going to take me a couple of weeks to get the other stuff I need, like the CO2 tank, regulator, hoses, etc. 1. How do I...

    Stain in fermenting bucket ok?

I've used my bottling bucket as a primary fermenter and it has developed some stains, but it hasn't been anything that has affected other beers. Scrub and sanitize, as always, and you'll be fine.

Recycling Beer Bottles -- Tricks for Glue Removal?

I've found that simply soaking them in water, then scrubbing with steel wool gets the job done most of the time.

    Keezer or Kegerator?

I'm looking at making the jump to kegging. After only 6 or 7 batches, I'm already tired of bottling! I'm torn between a keezer and a kegerator. I'm looking at having 3 or 4 corny's on tap. If I go with a keezer, I want to go with the 7.0 cu ft GE chest freezer. If I go with a kegerator, I...
