Value in raising temperature after primary?

That was my initial reason for asking because White Labs says 001 is optimal at 68-72 but I've read here that 65 is great for it so I am fermenting at 65 and I wondered if raising to the optimal range would be good after initial fermentation to finish it off. Thanks for all the answers!

Makes sense. Maybe I will put it up to 68 or 69 after 10 days or so

Value in raising temperature after primary?

Is there any value in raising the temperature after primary fermentation finishes? I made a big black ipa (OG 1.082 and the target FG is around 1.013) and used a 1.5L starter of WLP001. It's fermenting at 65F now. I've seen recipes where they raise the temp 3-5 degrees after primary...

Advice for Imperial Stout that is under carbed

You spoke of making a sugar solution now, did you make a solution with water, boil it to dissolve, and then cool it down before bottling or did you just add the dry sugar? The first beer I made, I just added the dry sugar and got lopsided/under carbonation in my bottles. Also, did you transfer...

Big Mouth Bubbler - Siphonless - Yes or No

Yeah I may try one to see how it is. I hate lifting the damn thing into the chest freezer

Big Mouth Bubbler - Siphonless - Yes or No

I've shied away from plastic since I started brewing but the widemouth siphonless seems awesome. Are my worries about plastic unfounded?

    Black IPA recipe critique

Great thank you! It's set at 65 right now. Should i raise the temp up a bit after a week or so? White labs says 68-73 which seems real high

    Black IPA recipe critique

Thanks for the info everyone! I ended up brewing it yesterday with 1oz fwh, 1 at 30 min, 1 at 10 and 2 at flameout. Mashed at 150. I went all carafa III because my local shop didn't have midnight wheat. It looks great and I hit all my marks for the first time with this setup. I will definitely...

    Black IPA recipe critique

Thanks for the input, yeah I only heard of equinox this year when I tried Southern Tier's 2XOne SMaSH double IPA and I love it. What do you think about midnight wheat in place of carafa? I have no experience with either really.

    Black IPA recipe critique

Hey everyone, I'm going to be trying my hand at a black ipa and I was hoping to get some feedback. It's going to be a big one. This is for a 5 gallon batch. 1.5-2L starter of WLP001 14.5 lbs 2 Row 1 lb Carafa III 1 lb Crystal 60 Mash at 150 for 90 minutes 60 min boil 3 oz Equinox...

    Equinox Hops

I am planning on a Black IPA and I've really taken to Equinox hops as of late. Haven't tried making a beer with them, but would Equinox hops work well in a Black IPA? I would be using mostly midnight wheat and maybe some carafa III for color. Also, what are some hop combinations that go well...

    Kegging issue

Just to update, the new coupler came in and it works perfectly now. I guess I will relegate that other one only to fill kegs with.

    Kegging issue

I tried pulling a pint again yesterday and there was a sound that sounded like the CO2 tank when it's equilibrating the pressure after you first tap a keg or when you bleed the headspace. I don't know if I remember it being that prominent before. There was mostly just air (CO2 I'm hoping) in the...

    Kegging issue

Hmm, I do have both of my lines connected to hose clamps. Maybe I could try removing them. I did order a new coupler, as this one is very old and cheap. Also, Thanks MagicMatt for the well written post.
