    Ss infussion and stuck mash

Your crush being to fine is most likely the culprit. Are you using your pump to recirculate or vorlauf? If you are getting to much flour or not enough intact husks you can set a grain bed like concrete. In the infusion the silicone gasket on the false bottom stops side channeling so if you...

    Fermenter Upgrade Questions

If you are thinking about switching to smaller batches I would definitely consider fermenting in corny kegs. they are a lot cheaper you could get 3 - 4 for the price of a brewbucket. 2 can fit in a relatively small fridge or freezer. they allow for closed loop fermentation. you can use them to...

    Kettle Hole Enlarging Advice

I’ve done it 3 times. Once with a blichmann twice with thinner bayou classics. I think the key is to just make sure the teeth of the punch are set and you are well centered.

    Kettle Hole Enlarging Advice

I have enlarged a punched a standard weldless element hole to the weldless triclamp size hole using a green lee punch three times it’s simple. Just line up the punch so that you are centered in the hole. The “teeth” on the larger punch will hold you in place. I used to have a thread...

Save Kettle with Bad Solder Joint

I know dremel makes a stainless brush tool that you may be able to use to clean it up. I used one to get some small embeded iron particles our of a keg once.

Wyeast - 3724 - How Many Months Should I Wait?

The DuPont strain has never stalled on me using an open ferment I find that is more important than temperature. At this point I would rack to secondary and let it sit in hopes of getting your points.

    Diacetyl from Impatience?

Pilsner and Diacetyl are unrelated. DMS is the off flavor potentially related to Pilsner malt. Diacetyl is commonly produced by lager strains and english strains It is generally caused by underpitching or poor yeast management. If it is present in a beer it will require time to clean up...

    It finally happened to me...

There is no need to tighten their fittings more than hand tight so I can't imagine a way to gall one of them. I have a good 200 batches on those buckets so I'm pretty sure that experience has gone past anecdote at this point. I'm not telling you not to use teflon tape though thats up to you...

    It finally happened to me...

I would have never thought to put teflon tape on a brew bucket fitting. I have never used it on any of their weldless fittings and I have 6 units, It seems like you don't disassemble the brew bucket fittings from the bucket after each batch, is that the case? That is just asking for problems...

    6 Gal recipe??

That recipe is a Jamil recipe and he talks about how his volume size suits his system in his book "brewing classic styles"

    6 Gal recipe??

as mr powers said. The 6 gallon batch allows for assorted losses along the way. These are different for each brewer I suppose. For instance my batch size is 6 gallons and I am planning on losing .5 gallon to trub in my hoses are whirlpool and stuff that settled right around the dip tube. I...

    Conical Regrets?

I have 4 brew buckets and 1 ss brewing conical I bought used for $125. The conical has the standard 3 piece valves and the weldless thermowell. I would NEVER buy that conical at full price. Disassembling those valves after every use is frustrating to the point that I never use the conical...

Dead mouse in the mash tun.

I personally wouldn’t use it again. Those coolers retain smells pretty well. I would pull all the hardware and bo it or put it in a steamer basket then replace the cooler. Lord knows why that thing died in the first place. Poison, starvation, hantavirus it’s not worth it to me.
