    Which electric controller?

I swapped a few of them out awhile back. Honestly I think its the controller on a whole. We have had to flash the drive twice and have had a few other issues with it. Our previous generation hosehead was great and had no issues for years until the brewery took a power surge and it died. This...

Dry NEIPA - - How to inject lactose into keg without opening?

This is how I inject anything into a keg, usually gelatin. It works well and is easy. make sure you have the available space for the liquid your injecting. otherwise it can be a mess if you need to pull the prv to get everything in the bottle. Generally I found that if the bottle is a 20-25...

    Which electric controller?

Thats a good question. I just assume they don't work well. I have probably 50 batches on the system since that post and the probes are still all over the place and require calibration every batch.

    RTD snuck between coil

I would not put the probe between your coils you want to have the probe a few inches from your element to get a more accurate reading of the wort. The element itself will be hotter than your wort and if it touches the probe it would interfere with your boil. I use standard elements in a 15g...

Maytag Chest Freezer troubleshooting possibly thermostat

Ordered the parts to attempt to recharge freon. will be about $45 if it works. Borrowed a multimeter and all components that i could test seemed fine. stopped by lowes and every single either chest or upright freezer is sold out. crazy times...

Maytag Chest Freezer troubleshooting possibly thermostat

Im not seeing anything that looks like a leak puddle. there is a bit of corrosion build up a bit like what you see on a car battery on one of the copper pipes connected to the compressor. Have you refilled freon before? this video makes it look pretty straight forward and about a $50 investment.

Maytag Chest Freezer troubleshooting possibly thermostat

From what I have read if the unit is low on refrigerant that means there is likely a leak somewhere. Is that right? I have a nice oak collar it and the same unit assuming it is the same size still is running $500 with all the end times buying lately. It is arguably worth fixing based on cost...

Maytag Chest Freezer troubleshooting possibly thermostat

Updated with some better information. Maytag MQC1552TEW01 mfg 6 years ago The unit stays about 45° and there is a light ice ring around the top front. The compressor is very warm to the touch and there is a working hum when the freezer is "running". When I unplug the freezer and plug it back...

    Strata hops

All your standard hops pair well with it. I have used it a fair amount for work. It’s a good complement hop and it can shine solo. Go with classic “C” hops and you’ll get a nice dank iipa

    Belgian yeast starter smells bad

I made a starter of two older packs of this yeast strain that we had in the cooler at work. It smelled bad and I dumped it. Could be that it stink on the stir plate I have had a few strains that were unpleasant smelling starters. I however remember this particular stain smelling rotten when i...

    Rye in a Graff?

for rye to shine you want it to be about 20% of your fermentables. I would think it would work well in a graf

    Electric Brewing Supply vs DIY?

I built a 30a 2 vessel kit from ebrewsupply for my system 4 or so years ago. It is great and I have had no issues with it. That being said I am looking at some of the other less expensive units for a biab setup.

    Kegerator or Glycol Chiller

If you already have fermentation control of some sort I would move into kegging. It will give you more joy than the glycol. Glycol is really just a end of hobby toy in my opinion. It doesn’t offer anything that a freezer can’t offer other than possible space savings. I have a glycol...

    Infected Beer in Conical Fermenter

If you have an instapot you can put all your parts in there and "autoclave" them for 10 minutes. Some plastic and rubber handle parts on cheaper valves may need to be left out.
