    Just ordered Spike Flex+

For the filtering and kegging aspect, I did the following and love the results for producing clear beer with the plus of not needing to use a hop bag. Haven't had any issues with clogging of the filter yet and I just dump the pellets in rather than a bag now. They are kinda one use but have...

San Diego's Must Drink and See

Cool neighborhood for food but not so much for breweries. Pure Project is closest to your area. The tap rooms on 30th street are a very short Uber away. Drive wise, I think the Miramar area is you best bet. Use that map from my post above and that should help guide you to the locations up...

San Diego's Must Drink and See

What area are you staying in? Chances are, there will be several around you to try. If you have ones that are must do's to hit, you'll most likely need a car. Our mass transit sucks here if you are not in the central southern part of the city. Off the top of my head if you want to see...

    Cholaca - Pure Liquid Cacao

Just to keep the Cholaca info flowing. I did a 6 gallon batch of an RIS at 10.7%. I used 1 vanilla bean and 16oz of unsweetened Cholaca after fermentation was done. Just added to primary for 4 days and then bottled 5 gallons. At 2 months of aging it tastes amazing. Can taste both the...

    BCS 462 process programming V4.0

Electric Brewing Supply did a video that helped me out a lot when creating processes for the first time. Once you get your head around the logic, it gets easier.

Show me your brew room computer setup!

I needed mobility in my current space so put everything on a heavy duty rack system from Costco. The panel is mounted on this. I wanted something with 4 points on contact on the rack for stability and the arms on the mount itself made it easy for bolting to panel. The monitor is a 22"...

    Yet another panel mount question

I used this one because it was 4 solid points of contact on my brew stand. If you like, you can cut the sides down to minimize the panel it connects to from sticking out but I use it as handles from moving the whole thing around...

    Amarillo or Mosaic?

Last two batches of pales ales with mosaic. One was a maris smash and the other was a 2-row with a little of other stuff with mosaic. They were 39 and 41 IBU's. It really let you get a good taste of the grain without any bitterness getting in the way. Liked them both and will definitely do...

What Duty Cycle % for Boil Element

Thanks BrunDog. The 2 seconds at 50% worked great. I hit my estimated boil off of 1.5 gallons. My only problem this time was I was came in low on my SG by 8 points at 1.044. But that's another story. :)

What Duty Cycle % for Boil Element

Thanks! I checked around and couldn't really find what people were using for the total cycle and just left it at 10 seconds going off of the example in the 4.0 docs. I'll give 2 seconds at 50% a shot this weekend and see how it goes.

What Duty Cycle % for Boil Element

Great thread! This was one of the things I was curious about when testing out my boil off rate the first time. When switching to duty cycle, it's normal to only see boiling bubbles breaking the surface only when the element is on, correct? Let's say I am using a 70% cycle 1-2 seconds -...

    Spike Complete System

I have pretty much that system they are selling in 15 gallon form, I just didn't know I was getting that at the time. I worked with them in May on the kettles and they gave great feedback on adjustments I should make while they were fine tuning their complete system (I assume). I also got a...

    California San Marcos/Cardiff advice needed

Sorry, didn't see this post before commenting on the other thread. Not sure why Google told you another 1.5 hours. It should just about the same with going to Cardiff or San Marcos. I would definitely go to the main site over the tasting room. Main site has all three "breweries" on...
