    Power Distribution Blocks

That's not a bad idea. I actually ordered one of these. I hope it will do the trick, but I guess I can always re-sell it if not.

    Cooling Jackets for Plastic Conicals?

I wonder if you could simply purchase 2 hoppers of different size? Then build it so there is an inner and outer hopper.

    Power Distribution Blocks

Do most of you use these for Power/Neutral and have a separate ground bar?

    Power Distribution Blocks

Oh the Grainger ones look like they might work. I am using them to distribute my main power out to feed 4 SSRs, conrtol etc. Pretty much the way Pol has his set up.

    Power Distribution Blocks

I was looking at the ones from automation direct and they are very nice. Really they are exactly what I want but the line side is listed as accepting 2awg - 8awg wire and I believe my 30A cord is 10awg so these won't work for me. I need to keep looking for something like these that will work.

    Power Distribution Blocks

I am looking for some input on what distribution blocks I should be using for an all electric rig. I will be feeding the box with a 4 wire 30A GFCI RV cord. I have seen quite a few different blocks and found a few that I think will work. (example) Can anyone who has been down this road already...

    First competition...

Congrats on the IPA. This was my first competition too and I scored a 39.5 on an American Stout but didn't place. I was told anything from about 35+ was very good and would have a chance at placing, so I think your scores where all quite good.

Is this a valid enclosure for HERMS build?

I actually like the first enclosure you posted. I was looking at those myself until I noticed it was local pickup only. I am not totally concerned about nema rating, but would like to buy a nice enclosure without breaking the bank.

Keeping a mixture of star san

I keep star san for a long time. What I do is mix the star san using 5 gallons of store bought distilled water. I then use the 5 one gallon plastic jugs to store the star san when I am done using it. This works out pretty well and allow me to just pull a single gallon out when I take a sample or...

    NYC Bars near the Garden

Thanks Guys these look good. I took a look at McSorley's and it look neat, but do they have good beer too?

    NYC Bars near the Garden

I am in NYC for a few nights and wondering if anyone has a suggestion for good beer bars. I am staying near the garden so something in that area would be best, but I don't mind taking a train somewhere. I went to http://rattlenhumbar.wordpress.com/ tonight and it was pretty good. Any good...

    Water Filtration

+1 for 2 stage filter. Not sure exactly what filtration level you are looking for but you can build a setup with 2 whole house canisters for like $80. I start with a 30 micron sediment filter and that feeds a 2 micron carbon filter. This should do a pretty good job unless you have a real need...

There is a shopping list for switches over here in the Ohio-Ed control panel thread.

    Trub and a septic system

Trub and yeast seems ok. I wonder about putting star san into my septic personally. I figure it is ok since it is never more than an ounce in 5 gallons, but I still wonder.

    Soldering Stainless steel

Yeah figuring out how I wanted to ground the rig has been my biggest question. I didn't want to drill a whole for a bolt and was not really thrilled about cutting out copper sheeting. I hope this holds up well because it seems like the cleanest solution to me.

    Soldering Stainless steel

For what it is worth I did use silver solder. In fact I got this kit from a local hobby shop. I went this route because buying this flux from a welding shop is very expensive. I used a cheap butane soldering iron with a torch attachment to heat it which worked great. One thing that may have...

    Soldering Stainless steel

This thread has been very helpful to me and I wanted to share my first attempt at soldering a copper ground lug to my hlt to be. The hardest part was keeping the piece from moving around since it sits on top of the barrel. Hopefully the second one will be a little straighter, but it...

    Electrical Primer for Brewers

Ok I answered my own question in this thread over here. Looks like the element rating goes down at a lower wattage so the draw would be lower too.

    Electrical Primer for Brewers

I am a bit confused with your statement that I would draw less power with lower volts. The way I understand it to determine what the element will draw you divide its wattage by the voltage. So a 4500W element at 240V will draw 18.75A but the same element run at 212V will draw more like 21A. I...
