    My bottling experience and questions

Sorry, yes I used a bottling wand which allowed me to fill it pretty consistently. Ya I used 2 1/2 cups water to dissolve the priming sugar in per the instructions on the kit and from what I have read. The reason I put it so high was because I was getting a lot of air in the line when...

    My bottling experience and questions

I bottled my first batch today and overall it went pretty smooth. I was most worried about this process and did the most planning mainly because I wasn't sure what to expect. I had read and watched videos on the rest of the process but it is amazing that there is so little info on bottling. I...

New here, Looking for advice on kettles and brewing indoors vs outdoors

I was in the exact same situation as you about a month ago. I bought my kit from bells brewery, very good kit and cheap ass shipping. I bought a granite ware 21 quart kettle from Walmart for 12 bucks. It is awesome! I know once I get a job after college I will buy a nice ss kettle but it is...

    Best Extract Kits?

I added about 10 of their kits to a wish list. I think the next 2 are going to be a pumpkin ale and the cream ale.

    Fermentation Chambers

Well, after my first brew I have learned quite a few things and decided to make a few changes before my next brew. The toughest thing I am trying to changing is how and where I place my fermenter. I have had trouble finding a place that is the right temperature in my house. I have came to the...

    Questions About Water

I just went to Walmart and picked up 6 gallons of their drinking water. I think it cost me 88 cents a gallon. To me that is much easier than messing around with all the filtration systems. And to me (a broke college student) that is very cheap.

    Green beer

Anyone know how to make a beer green? I would assume just adding food coloring at some point would work but how much and when? Thanks!

    Airlock seal disaster!

I am having airlock problems as well. I am experiencing suck back and the water from the airlock is going into the fermenter. I didn't use a star san solution or vodka in there, just plain water. I hope I dont get an infection from it.

    20 qt pot?

I use a 21 qt granite ware pot. I know people who have used these for 10 years brewing beer. Pretty inexpensive compared to SS also.

    Sanitzer volume and sanitation techniques

I'm new to this but I siphon some of the sanitizer solution through it. I then just put the tubing end back in the water and it continuously circulates through the autosiphon.

    First Brew Questions

Just put my brew in the fermenter last night (Brewers Best Ale Pail) and I also yet to see signs of activity in the airlock. Is it bad if the airlock is filled up to high with water? I hope it is fermenting away and I just dont see signs. I dont think I aerated all that well. The yeast also...

what recipe for my next brew

There is a fat tire clone in the recipe database
  20. D

Fermentation can take 24 to 72 hrs to show visible signs.

Will the way dry yeast was stored affect the time it takes for it to start fermenting? I kept my packet in the fridge for the most part but had it out for about a day after I received my kit and a few hours before I brewed.
