    So who's brewing this weekend?

    Brewed a German Pils yesterday. First time trying a German Pils. Used Viking Pilsner malt, which I have heard nothing but good about. Magnum at 60 minutes, Hallertau Mittelfrauh at 5 minutes. Diamond Lager yeast. OG 1.050. 4.5 gallons.

    Just put my Festbier in the fermenter. A little late brewing it but should be fine. Over shot my OG at 1.061. Nice golden yellow color. Hydrometer sample tasted more than promising.

    Put my newest rendition of an Altbier in the fermenter this afternoon. 5 lbs Pilsner 3 lbs Munich 1 3 oz Melanoidin 3 oz chocolate wheat 1 oz Perle (7.1%AA) 60 min 1 oz Perle 5 min WLP 036 Dusseldorf Alt OG=1.050

    Brewed a Left Over Lager (get it---LOL) out of some left over grains and DME. 4.4 lbs Barke Vienna 1 lb Maris Otter 0.35 lbs Barke Munich 1 oz Carafa 2 1 lb Pilsen Light DME 1 oz Styrian Holdings @ 60 min 1 oz Styrian Holdings @ 5 min Diamond Lager yeast 4 gallons OG= 1.048

    Beer In Alaska

    We got back from a trip to Alaska a little over 2 weeks ago. I'll second Devil's Club Brewing in Juneau. 49th State and Glacier Brewing in Anchorage is also good with a good selection

    Passed the BJCP Entrance Exam!

    GrainFather Support

    As a follow-up: I got an email from Grainfather saying that "a replacement control box and boiler will resolve the issue." They asked that I confirm my shipping address, which I did. It sounds like I will be getting a new Grainfather. Yippee! Great service from Grainfather.

    Most overrated beer

    When were you in Stuttgart? I was in the Navy and attached to USEuCom at Patch Barracks for 6 months in late 1975. (God that was a LONG time ago!) Hated to leave Germany after only 6 months.
