    Holiday Homebrew Party

Well about 3 months back my wife approached me with the idea of hosting a Holiday Homebrew Party in which me and my friends that brew (some of which started bc of my interest) would create holiday style beers (which was pretty much left open to anything) and our better halfs would create an app...

    5 gal carboy as primary?!

Seriously?! I have never heard of that. It doesnt effect the beer at all?

    5 gal carboy as primary?!

So the head space (or lack there of) in the 5 gal carboy isnt going to hinder my batch beyond losing a portion of the batch to blow off?

    5 gal carboy as primary?!

I think I know the answer to my question but is a 5 gal carboy suffecient as a primary for a 5 gal batch? All of my 6.5 gal carboys are in use right now and had to resort to using a 5 gal. Am I asking for trouble? I just made the batch yesterday so it hasnt started actively fermenting yet...

    What's it like to own/run a LHBS?

I have been watching this to see what their answers are as I am interested like you... It must be a great business that they dont want you to be a part of, or it takes up a lot of their time bc I am a little shocked you havent got a response yet.

How long after smacking can I use a Wyeast smack pack?

FYI - it says on those packs that it doesnt necessarily have to swell at all for the yeast to be awake and ready to go to work (well, not like that exactly, but you get the picture)...I made the same mistake once only I called the LHBS and was in a bit of a panic mode (bc I didnt have any other...

    Homebrew for Christmas

My sister in law asked me last night if I was making her any homebrew for christmas. I was shocked/honored someone would want my beer for a gift - plus, although it probably wont be ready ON christmas, I didnt mind getting after a batch today. It's nice to brew when you weren't originally...

    Bulk Hops Question

I am in the same boat as Berock, but my question is "leaf" or "pellet?" I have only ever used pellets...is one better than the other? Thanks in advance for dealing with the n00bness of my question.

    Best Micro Brew

I couldnt pick 1 favorite beer, but I could pick a brewery: New Belgium. Oddly enough, not one of their beers would be my all-time favorite (although Fat Tire and 2* Below are good beers), but they are just so consistant as a whole - for all their styles.

True Brew IPA kit - When to 'actually' bottle?

That's a good kit! I like to dry hop it with an oz of fuggle hops. It kicks it up a bit.

    Today's Brewing Buddies

I dunno how it is in MN, but in OK - toms can be seen year around until opening day, then it's like they vanished. Not one to be found. Smart little ****ers.
