    Growing hops in Oklahoma

Okie - I tried for 2 seasons to grow hops in OK and whether it was the heat, hail, or wind, I didn't have much luck. The first year they got destroyed by hail. I wasn't too worried about it considering I was just trying to establish a good root system. The second year (last summer) we got...

    My single tier build

n2fooz: first off, beautiful build! You have inspired me to build my stand finally and I want to thank you for being so thorough and detailed. My question is, what kind of casters did you use? I want to make sure I get something that is heavy duty enough to support all the weight this will...

    Growing hops in Oklahoma

I'm trying my hand at some cascade for the first time. I live in Edmond and its been an interesting year. I got a late start (planted in may) bc we were n the middle of building a house/moving. I initially planted 6 rhizomes, 3 each in 2 separate whiskey barrels. No less than 2 weeks after I...

    The509Inc's Hop Garden in pics

Beautiful! I ordered 4 cascade rhizomes over the weekend. Here's to establishing some solid roots this year. Thanks for the input. Cheers.

    The509Inc's Hop Garden in pics

509inc - what varieties have you figured grow best in the OKC area? We are in a bit of a transition period as we sold our house in Edmond, currently living in the Village, but are about to close on our new house next week. I have room for a pretty solid biergarden and was planning on planting...

Looking for 40 oz bottles, Capable.

Dude, good luck. I searched for this very thing as a group of us thought it would be fun/funny to make a malt liquor and put it in 40 oz bottles for some homebrew party we were throwing and that was our biggest hurdle. We searched the interwebs for hours with no luck. If you end up finding...

Great American Beer Fest Sold Out

I'm going for the first time this year. Me and 6 other fellow HBers are RV'ing it from Oklahoma. Should be a good time. We are also spending a day in Ft Collins, renting bikes, and hitting up all the big and small breweries alike. We will be at GABF Friday and the members only sesh on Saturday.

    my 50 gallon brewrig photos

That's pretty rad. I was going to jealously criticize as to why you needed that much beer but you quickly refuted that. No one can hate on a guy that gives carboy's of beer away. Super nice dude. Kudos.

i have brewed two diff batches from kits...both sucked whats up?

"no your 100% right revvy..." I LOL at that. When I read Revvy's response that's exactly what I thought. Keep at it dude. You are obviously brewing beer because you like quality beer. Read up on this site, because you have the capability to make some damn good beer with a little know how...

AB-InBev fights to prevent HB602 from becoming law

Hey - the good news is we are all so lucky to have a government that likes to protect us. I am not sure what from, but thank the lord they're there. Don't even get me started on ass backwards laws regarding beer/alcohol. I have lived in TX, Alaska, Illinois, and now reside in (J)oklahoma...

    Houston Beer Stops

Petrol Station is a cool spot as is Cedar Creek Cafe if you are in the need for a naughty burger and some patio love. St Arnolds is amazing. If you could be so lucky, Divine Reserve 11 was released this week but chances are it is gone everywhere by now.

What are the pros/cons of this kegging setup?

-Dude - save yourself a headache and just keep your kegs in the fridge on a legit regulator like this (assuming you want 2 kegs on tap): http://www.austinhomebrew.com/product_info.php?cPath=178_40_271_275_272&products_id=2363 -A 5lb CO2 tank. -And get a picnic tap like this...

    Kenmore Model# 95882 Fridge Kegerator?

Forgive my ignorance here, but if you are going to drop $318 on a 5.7 cu ft fridge, why not just get a slightly bigger freezer for less? I was at Home Creepo yesterday and saw a 7.2 cu ft freezer for like $180. Granted, you will need to buy a temperature controller and would have to load kegs...

    30 Soberest Cities in America

Not surprising at all. This is the home of the backwards alcohol laws. People's mind set here baffles me (hence the lack of quality beers available and wine in grocery stores).

    Austin Homebrew is the best

I just realized where my CC info was compromised a few weeks ago. Honestly, I do not blame AHS as this has happened to me a few times one in which was at a restaurant. When you purchase stuff online it certainly opens you up to credit predators but it is not limited to the internet. I think...

    When to bottle?

You are going to get an array of answers on this as everyone has their own method. I'm a big fan of leaving it in the primary for 3-4 weeks skipping the whole secondary altogether (unless I am dry hopping). I also keg more often than not. If I am bottling I typically go primary for 4 weeks...

Noisy stir bar driving SWMBO crazy

I LOL'd so hard at that. Hilarious.

    Stinky cheese hops

Nope. What kind of package were they in? They are better if they are sealed - regardless of being in the freezer. If they came from a place like hopsdirect in those foil-ey type packages they can actually be resealed using a hot iron, just an FYI.
