Adding another pack of dry yeast?

Hey guys, So as I wrote somewhere else in the forum, I brewed last Saturday and overshot my OG... by A LOT. My grain didn't come milled, so I borrowed my buddies. A beer that was supposed to end up at 1.045 with my previous 65% efficiency, ended up being 1.060! Although this is a good...

Primary Fermenting in a Corny Keg

Just thought I would add my 0.02 to the whole "no difference between fermenting in a corny or in a carboy" conversation. I talked to my waste water treatment prof (damn you chemical engineering curriculum!) and we just covered a section on zone settling. I asked the prof after class what effect...

Where to place CO2 manifold in Danby DKC645BLS

Actually, My kegerator broke down just before I was going to install it. I got a full refund, and put that towards building my own keezer. Sorry I wasn't much help, but good luck!

Miss calculated efficiency, should I water down my brew?

Thanks VTrookie, I had a dispute with my brewing buddy about this, and we both agreed it was a good thing, although it won't be exactly what we were looking for. On the other hand, it's a homebrew, how bad can it really be? (Crosses fingers). Guess we'll just wait and see what the...

Miss calculated efficiency, should I water down my brew?

Hey guys, So on the weekend I brewed a recipe that I came up with using beersmith. From my previous batches using pre-milled grain from my LHBS, I was consistently getting efficiencies around 62-68%. However, only a store in Toronto had amarillo, warrior, and Simcoe hops that I need to try...

Irish Stout Ode To Arthur, Irish Stout (Guinness Clone)

I can't wait to make this! I was just wondering... if I opt to use some 575L roast barley, should I still use the same proportions? In my BS recipe I have 1lb for a 5.5gal batch (65% efficiency... no grain mill!) and the recipe comes out to 4.2% ABV, 32.7SRM, and 30.5 IBU's. I think it'll...

    STC-1000 not cooling?

Thanks for all your help Chris, I got it working and the keezer is finally finished :). I have a white ale carbing as we speak! Can't wait to have it later this week. When I write my build thread I'm going to include this fix, and I'll make sure to include you in my thanks. Saved me a few weeks...

    STC-1000 not cooling?

I attached a picture of how it's currently wired. I have both the hot and cool side connected, incase I need to change anything later. I think your diagram Chris was showing this wiring for the temperature controller in general. Let me know if you see anything wrong with my current wiring. In...

    STC-1000 not cooling?

I see. So basically, the only thing this changes is that now I will be having an "external" transformer that plugs into the wall (as well as my extension cord which feeds power to the outlet on the temp control unit). This means two cords coming out of the temperature control box and plugging...

    STC-1000 not cooling?

Okay. So does the plug go into the same outlet as the freezer? I'm referring to after the end that isn't soldered to where th transformer used to be

    STC-1000 not cooling?

So this would be similar to a phone charger? I'm trying to fully understand the connections before I try anything. Is it as simple as removing the transformer, snipping of the end of the adapter that attaches to my phone, soldering the newly exposed wires to the same place where the old...

    STC-1000 not cooling?

I searched newegg and "stc-1000" only returns the 220V controller. Amazon looks like the only option for quick delivery. Also, I might try that out Chris!

Cheizus, what do you mean exactly? Do you mean with respect to the shipping rate?

    STC-1000 not cooling?

I ordered mine from amazon just now. $20 controller and $22 shipping to Canada... What a rip off. Decided $20 was worth saving 1-2weeks. I have two kegs carving at room temperature, and I just want to drink them already haha.

    STC-1000 not cooling?

Problem is, my order took over 3 weeks to get to me, and I'm really not ready to wait a month for this to work. I'm going to check out the thread you posted... It's worth taking a look at

    STC-1000 not cooling?

Crap........ the manual says 220VAC, I thought all of the Ebay adds online were the same... it only states the voltage in the specs and not the title. Does this mean that it's impossible for it to work with the freezer? Or can I add something to bring the voltage up?

    STC-1000 not cooling?

right now the cool light is on (not blinking) and it is not turning on the freezer. Like I said, it can't be the freezer because when I plugged it into the wall outlet, it worked, but not when I plugged it into the temp control unit outlet. I have the controller set to 2C.

    STC-1000 not cooling?

Hey guys, So, very last step of my keezer build (pics to come!), and I run into a road block. This is very frustrating, as it is literally done when it works and I screw the lid on the project box. Basically, when I plug in the extension cord (I follow this build...

Building a kegerator from basement to kitchen

there is a search bar at the top of the page, type something along the line of "keezer build" or "kegerator", and hundreds of results should turn up. You should have no problem getting 90%+ of your questions answered there. You should do research on how to get the beer up a story without...

    Dual Gauge regulator not working

Hey guys, I bought a dual gauge pressure regulator for my keezer so that I can carb and serve at the same time. However, When I first hooked up my CO2 regulator (with both valves closed) to my CO2 cylinder and opened it to see how much I had left. What ended up happening was that both pressure...
