Which order do I go in?

Brewed a beer that just finished primary at 1.011. I carbonated a sample and gave it a test and it's pretty decent, young but I think it will be good in a few weeks. Something about it screamed "Give me apricots" I was curious if I go straight from primary to racking on top of apricots in my...

    Chasing hops

Just curious if you guys are chasing hops up the side of your brew bot and scraping them back down into the boil. I often get a lot of hops on the walls and want to make sure they're in the wort... Is this common practice?

Seconds attempt at a more aggressive Saison.

I still would like the chance to try this batch with brett...but will follow your advice. If I pitch the 3711 now, with the honey I'll give it 10days before going into secondary. What about splitting the batch into two carboys, one with brett one without (to compete with). Is a third yeast...

Seconds attempt at a more aggressive Saison.

Thanks for taking the time to answer in depth, it definitely cleared some things up. For a 10g batch do you think 2# of honey is a good starting point? Also, which strain of Brett do you think works best for a Saison. I was thinking WLP670. I'm going to participate in the Del Mar fair...

Seconds attempt at a more aggressive Saison.

My first saison turned out really good, by my amatuer standards. However it tasted just "standard." It as very drinkable and got very good reviews. The first keg got crushed at a gathering, but I had some bottles I conditioned for 3 months, and it didn't change much. If anything it just...

Having hard time hitting final volume in beer smith... need help

Heres my volumes sheet I didn't stopt he run off, because when I did this with my buddy he always had the exact right amount of water using this formula

Having hard time hitting final volume in beer smith... need help

I followed this brew sheet to the oz of water for a 5 gallon batch, and ended up with almost 3 extra gallons of wort. Because of which, I missed my OG by .020 I must be reading it wrong...I already mesaured out exactly how much dead space I have in the mash tun and in the boil pot and...

Do you ever just make up a recipe and say "Suuure why not?"

Having a bit of free time on my hands, and some extra disposable income to test new stuff out, I've been curious about making up a recipe that doesn't "fit" into any pre-designated profile. I'm by no means even past the "noobie" stage yet, but trial and error is the best way to...

Came up short on the boil. Quick question.

See in the Pre boil volume? It assumed my mash tun was 3 gallons. Huge brain fart on my part that I didn't register the volumes until it was too late. We topped off the boil pot a bit, but it still cooked off a lot.

Came up short on the boil. Quick question.

My Beersmith brew sheet had some issues and I didn't catch it until the end. It said a post volume batch would be 3.12 gallons, but I entered it in as a 5 gallon batch. It was my first time with the new setup and was to distracted to catch it. Either way, I would like to top off the volume...

    5 Day cider? No way...

I used Red Star Pasteur Champagne Yeast. I'm convinced it has to do with creating a starter. Also, someone at the brew mart suggested there was natural wild yeast nutrient in the cider and I refused to simmer it. It is certainly on the "Dry" side, which I actually prefer. My roommates say...

    5 Day cider? No way...

So I'm still very new to brewing. I've done a fair amount of all grain batches with my friend, but I'm starting to work my way to flying solo. I decided to try some ciders. Before investing in 5 gallons of any one recipe I decided to do 5x 1gallon batches all with different brands of cider...

    I built my first Keezer

Sorry, I wish I had some plans for you but it was kind of a build as I go project. I had an idea in my head, and since home depot is across the street I was able to just come and go as I pleased, no need for drawn up plans. The only real measurements were for the top. I knew the area it...

    I built my first Keezer

I built the keezer lid with little "blocks" in the corners. I affixed it with industrial strength lock-tite. When I get home I will see if i can get a good picture from the underside :mug:

    I built my first Keezer

Theres plenty of Sq.Ft of open space inside the shell of the the keezer. I keep the probe in a water bottle and have it set to max delay on the cycles. It doesn't turn on enough to generate enough heat to become an issue. If you look at the picture of the shell, you will see theres about an...

    I built my first Keezer

Thanks for all the positive feedback. It makes all the hard work worth while. To access the inside, I just slide it away from the wall and lift the top. It has sliding pads underneath. There are four taps because I will put a 3 gallon corny when I find a good deal. It fits on the hump

    My el-cheapo manifold.

Not sure if this has been built on here before, but I though I would toss it up. I built a 4 way manifold. It cost about $25 using parts from Harbor Freight. I liked this design because if I wanted to add another valve/barb for forced carbonation lines or I squeeze in a 3gallon, it can...
