New all grain pale ale this weekend

As long as it's not a crazy recipe, it'll turn out fine!

    Hop Recalculations

Sorry, I misunderstood you. You have a recipe you're working with that specifies the hops IBU/AAU. I'd recommend downloading the BrewCipher spreadsheet. Google it and you'll find a homebrew talk post for it. You can can put your recipe in there but play with the amount (weight) and AAs of...

    Hop Recalculations

To get the correct IBUs, you'd want to use the actual AAs of the hops you're using. If it's off by a little, my guess is it's likely not noticeable. Though, why not just change the AAs of the hops you're using instead of the weight you're tossing in?

    Verdant in American/West Coast IPA?

For what it's worth, this beer turned out very good. Still a bit young but I'd make it again. I have a hard time picking out any of the yeast attributes from the verdant. I'd need a side by side comparison with a Chico yeast to tell. But maybe it's because if fermented it lower around 62F

What Is The One Aspect of Brewing That Is Least Important to Brewing a Good Beer? (In Your Opinion)

That's true. A lot of people not willing to learn the process and want immediate satisfaction. Brewing doesn't work like that. One thing I can think of is that while the fancy stuff might make some stuff a bit easier, it doesn't make your beer any better. Learn the process first and then...

    Long EvaBarrier gas line

Appreciate it. I figured there isn't an issue but ya never know. Always like to get others opinions (for better or worse).

    Long EvaBarrier gas line

I'm thinking of putting my CO2 tank in my basement and run an eva barrier line to the upstairs kegerator. Might be ~20ft or so. I know EvaBarrier is good at reducing oxygen ingress but is there a limit with how long the line is vs how much O2 gets in?

    Verdant in American/West Coast IPA?

I guess when I said west coast I meant more in regards to the hops. The only thing is if the esters from the verdant compliment the hops or if it just is too opposing. I'm thinking it'll turn out fine. Not worried about it but was just curious of people's thoughts, so thanks for that!

    Verdant in American/West Coast IPA?

I'd agree with you guys. Although, I already rolled with the Verdant. I've always liked the hazy kinda beers that had a little classic IPA hops in it, so I'm hoping for the best. I'm sure it will not be the worst on-the-fly recipe I've made.

    Verdant in American/West Coast IPA?

I've only used Verdant once in a hazy type of IPA, but somehow I have 6 packs of the yeast... I'm making an American/West Coast (ish) IPA with the recipe below. I'd normally use US-05 for something like this, but since I have a bunch of Verdant, I thought maybe I'd use it here. Anyone have...

Secondary regulator on inside of keezer lid

Thanks guys. I think I'm going to try to glue some ply to the underside of the lid so I can screw the regulator in there. As long as the adhesive cures correctly, it should work.

Secondary regulator on inside of keezer lid

Just bought a 4 body secondary regulator without really thinking of where it'll go. I don't think I can mount it on the inside of the collar and have enough room to pull kegs in and out. And don't want it outside for looks. Does anyone have any experience mounting a regulator to the inside of...

Will the Fermonster Big Mouth 7 gallon carboys fit in the 3.2 cu ft mini fridges ?

Fermonster is about 21 inches tall. Both of those fridges are 4.4ish cuft.

Will the Fermonster Big Mouth 7 gallon carboys fit in the 3.2 cu ft mini fridges ?

Looks like it won't fit sitting on the height of the hump. Doubt it will fit on the floor as is. But if you're handy you can build a 2x4 collar extension to make it deeper. Take the door off, make the 2x4 frame, glue/caulk/adhesive the frame to the fridge. Then put the door on the frame. I...

Will the Fermonster Big Mouth 7 gallon carboys fit in the 3.2 cu ft mini fridges ?

Oops, yes didn't realize that. Think mine are the 4.4 cuft sizes. The 7 gal fermonster might not fit in the 3.2cuft. at least the depth. Mine sit on the bottom. Above the shelf would not give me enough clearance. I'd recommend looking on craigslist or whatever for a used one. If it's the...

Will the Fermonster Big Mouth 7 gallon carboys fit in the 3.2 cu ft mini fridges ?

I've got 2 mini fridges for fermentation chambers. Might get lucky with yours but on one of mine, had to take the plastic door piece off (exposing door insulation), and the other I extended it with a 2x4 collar for the fermonster to fit. If you can see and measure first, that would be your...

    Not 1 bee, but 2!

That's gotta be a bummer if the timer is going off for a hop addition or something haha Nice, where abouts? I was in Philly the past year, but moved over the river just a month ago. Let me tell you, it was tough brewing in the back patio of one of those town houses in the city! Not much...

    Not 1 bee, but 2!

Finally getting to brew after a while and moving. Since it's a gorgeous day out in South Jersey, figured I'll brew outside. Aww a few bees flying around out here and though, huh, hope they don't go into the beer (not thinking they actually will). Well, not only one, but two ended up in there...

    CO2 Tank Leak

My guess is that's probably what's going on here. Thanks for the info!

    CO2 Tank Leak

With the valve open all the way, it still sounds like it's leaking. But if I don't open it all the way tightly it seems to hold. It is a bit random in when I hear the leak. But I guess if it's not leaking when it's open, it should be fine. As long as it's not a danger issue... In the mean...
