    What are you drinking now?

That IPA looks amazing! Homebrew lazy lager. I only boiled for half hour because I was squeezing in a brew day last minute. Turned out really tasty.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

My little brother came over and we both brewed. He has an all in one system and it was really cool seeing how that works. I brewed a smokey porter and he brewed a hoppy pale ale.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Call it "No rest for the wicked" kolsch. Sometimes I dream of taking a week off with and just brewing every day.

How often and at what volume is everyone brewing?

I brew pretty much every weekend, 2.5 gallon batches. Brewing is very cathartic for me and it gives me something to look forward to doing. I keep my process very simple so it doesn't take me all day and I always have a pretty good variety of beers available.

    Preparing Spent Grains for Chickens

I put my spent grains into a five gallon bucket and deliver them to my sister-in-laws chickens the next day. If I can't make it in a day or two I just dump them on my compost pile.

Campden Tablets - Potassium Metabisulfite useage.

I would say you are getting your money's worth out of it. From my understanding of it a campden tablet will drive off chlorine and kill any noxious bugs in your water (that's the primary reason wine makers use it as I understand.)

    BIAB and heating element

I would love a more detailed explanation! Sometimes I do that kind of modified vorlauf but it has never made a terribly huge difference on my system. My false bottom has fully 1 gallon under it and my typical mash volume is 3.5 gallons to end up with 2.5 gallons of beer. Full disclosure: I am...

    BIAB and heating element

I don't agree with that. My ebiab kettle is a tamale steamer that has it's own false bottom and I don't have a pump. I maybe don't get the highest efficiency but I get 75-80% depending if I do a dunk sparge.

    What is your House beer?

It depends what I have on hand. Almost always a British dry strain though, S-04, Nottingham, or Windsor typically.

    What is your House beer?

I don't brew the exact same recipe twice ever but my house beer is a stout that is: Base malt+ .5 lbs Chocolate malt .5 lbs Roasted Barley .5 lbs Crystal malt 100-150 I've brewed the entire spectrum of IBUs from 20-70 and added smoked malt in one batch. The formula is damn near impossible to...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

I brewed a CDA on Saturday. I've been brewing a lot of low ABV bitters and pale ales but this one will be a bit of a bruiser starting at 1.072. I did a big whirlpool charge of Amarillo and Centennial and the airlocks is releasing all kinds of amazing smells now!

    Buying Beer As A Homebrewer

That's why I use 5 gallon hardware store buckets for my mashes/ washes. Can't let a slow ferment hold up the beer pipeline! Can't bring myself to spend the coin on a six gallon bucket either because all the ones I've looked at are $20! I simply can't fathom why the one extra gallon costs 300% more.

Am I the only one who enjoys bottling?

I really enjoy bottling as well! Collecting bottles is almost a second hobby for me. Lately I've been trying to collect pint bottles because my favorite glass is a british pint (20oz) and I want it to be full so I've been trying a lot of German beers. Ayinger beers are delicious and their labels...

    kettle cleaning before brewing?

No I don't. I probably should but I don't. Sometimes I throw some water in my kettle to soak and that's how it stays until I brew the next weekend. In those cases I do clean my kettle thoroughly before I start brewing.

    Heating element and controller

I picked up all my stuff from Amazon. I got a 120v Dernord 1650w ss foldback element that has never let my down. I mostly brew 2.5 gallon batches and occasionally 4 gallon batches. The 4 gallon batches take a pretty long time to get up to a boil so I'm considering building a 240 setup. I built...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Good luck and congratulations on your return to brewing! May your bag never burn to your element! I took a four year sabbatical from brewing and made the switch to electricity when I returned as well. It's so nice not having the stress of wondering if I actually have enough propane to get...

Can Cask Beer be Mimicked in something besides a Pin or Firkin?

Traditionally they add fresh beer from the next batch to the cask so it conditions. I use priming sugar because I'm not making the same batches back to back.

LalBrew London has eaten my beer and is coming for me next

I really love the speed of English strains and how hard they flocculate. I never use finings of any kind and I bottle condition and I can count on British yeasts giving my a crystal clear beer.
